is there a probationary period before being able to link to my pictures off site to open in the forum– The attachment size allowed on lit-erotica is a tad too small.
When trying to insert an image nothing shows up

As relatively recent as it was for me, I don't recall if there was a probationary period for posting images.

Hmm. after looking at your post, which I can do by quoting you, I see you DID use the IMG tags properly, yet when I tried to use it myself, I got the same results.

This suggests to me that it isn't necessarily a probationary period but instead is something wrong with the webpage in question.

Okay, after using the link to see what the page looks like I can see the problem. Whoever posted that image has prevented (somehow) that image to be reposted.

The only thing you can do from that page is download the image. Anytime you post an image from another image hosting website, you have to use the neat image itself and not a webpage with a bunch of advertising on it.
The easiest way to explain that is to tell you to right click on an image, go to "view image" and THAT is the page you want to paste into the html IMG field

edit: Aha. At the bottom of that page, there is a bunch of link codes for posting this image into a forum (aka "BB" or Bulletin Board). If you use one of those, you don't even have to use the html tag IMG to post it and can actually copy/paste into your posting itself.

Just be careful how you post images and what you post around here. If it looks like an advertisement, you might be looked on as being spam.
