Mr. Speaker! We Need To Get Back To Benghazi

My priorities???.....I'm not doing the investigation

No, you're not, but you're upset that there were "lies" told. You being upset over this and not over the excessive amount of money being wasted on a FOURTH "investigation" means you're a backer of this, want the GOP to topple the government.

MS. RICE: Well, Jake, first of all, it’s important to know that there’s an FBI investigation that has begun and will take some time to be completed. That will tell us with certainty what transpired.

But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo. In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated.
Is there a lie in this part? It has always been strongly believed that the Cairo protests were about the video.
We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people came to the embassy to — or to the consulate, rather, to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo.
About a video? Hm, no direct mention of a video here.
And then as that unfolded, it seems to have been hijacked, let us say, by some individual clusters of extremists who came with heavier weapons, weapons that as you know in — in the wake of the revolution in Libya are — are quite common and accessible. And it then evolved from there.
Extremists with heavy weapons? Sounds like terrorists to me.

Is there a lie in this part?
There is only one positivistic assertment there that could even BE a lie. That the FBI investigation will find out what happened. At that point, they may or may not. The rest is just "Here's an hypothesis based on our so far very limited information. To be revised when we know more."

People hear what they want to hear, and then it snowballs to the point they can't stop or they'll lose face.

They are pretending to actually believe there's a scandal there. The base might believe that, but no one in Congress possibly could.

Trey Gowdy seems to believe there's a communication problem that needs to be straightened out.

Oh now it's a COMMUNICATION problem?

More time wasted that could be better used elsewhere on more important things, and money wasted that doesn't need to be.

He might seem to, but he doesn't; and, in fact, he does not seem to. What he seems to believe is that he is running a criminal trial, as both prosecutor and judge.
