I couldn't figure out where this was going until I read the last line...

World War II

During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced 22 aircraft carriers, 8 battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203 submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships, 100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000 transport aircraft, 58,000 training aircraft, 93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000 mortars, 3,000,000 machine guns, and 2,500,000 military trucks.

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama administration couldn't build a functioning web site.

I can say with complete confidence that there is no chance of Obama being favorably compared to FDR.

I'm not sure that there is any plausible comparison between the two.

After the ignorance of the second paragraph, the ridiculousness of the final sentence was inevitable.

Woof!

Roosevelt didn't have half the country working to defeat America.
Obama does.

Not to mention the fact that whatever bullshit right wing website he got his information from is factually inaccurate. World War II began in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. Though there's an argument to be made for 1931 when Japan invaded China.

Of course this probably came from bitchbart so non-American history isn't relevant. Just like facts!

I pass the old tank plant everyday. It was crumbling away for a while but a few businesses moved in and rebuilt the place. Looks nice on the outside anyway

After the war was over, we rebuilt Europe and Japan, built roads and infrastructure from one end of the country to the next, and created the greatest middle class in history.

And we did it with a top tax rate over 90% and MASSIVE government spending.

Of course, the Republican Party wasn't a gaggle of raving lunatics back then.

There was NO massive government spending during the post WWII period. Go look up "US Government spending as percentage of GDP."

Further there was no profound increase in government revenues, that data is on the same charts as above.

High marginal income tax rates only impact the middle class, the truly wealthy shelter their wealth by other means and they always have. Politics of envy is pointless and counter-productive.

I don't think it's fair hiding Obama threads behind a thread with an enticing historical title.

Hmm.

Never read the words Obama and fair in the same sentence before.

Funny enough I did just what you said and look what I found. Obviously, there's a huge bump for the war. However, you fail to factor in huge spending on things like say the interstate highway system, the G.I. Bill, and this thing called the Cold War.

I also looked here and found that in table 1.3 while spending dropped from a high of 42% to a low of 11% (1943-1948) there were spending increases nearly every year since 1948.

Perhaps you ought to take your own advice and learn how to use Google. Or better yet read something that'll really piss you off.

Perhaps you should learn to read and comprehend the English language. The operative word was "massive."
