I know that is what has been written but I don't buy it totally. Dark fantasy is nothing new but this had a different organization to it. As is the case often, I believe many including Martin have borrowed heavily from Tolkien. His books are the standard to which so many others have been written. Game of Thrones, Dune and so on. Its just that no one has done it so well. Plus Martins books have sex in them so, there is that added element.

I'm a little disappointed with the way this episode went. Too much deviation from the book. I'm sure it worked for those who haven't read it but the plot twists are just not working for me.

Yeah, just after I said I didn't thing they would make significant changes, they completely redo Bran and Jon's story lines.

Dany did crucify the slave masters though, and I had thought they might get cold feet about that.

Have you noticed that they have left out the Elk riding white walker? I want to know who that guy is.

Cold Hands.

I read an article the other day that said the producers added the whole "I want my dragons back" subplot to Dany's storyline because they felt it dragged on too long without any real drama. I think they may have done something similar with Bran's plot line as well, because, after all, it's basically three books of dredging around the forest without much happening. So, the new business of them being captured by the mutineers may be a detour to add some action, and they will meet up with Cold Hands, and eventually, the Children of the Forest afterwards.

Oh ok. That actually makes some sense. I haven't been into to books for quite some time and I had forgotten how long all of that goes on. His stories do need a dash of succinctness. Were the mutineers ever a part of the written stories? Frankly I don't remember them.

I don't recall them ever coming up again. On the show, there are quite a few mutineers. In the books, I seem to remember that it was only a handful of men. Sam and Gilly fled Crasters Keep, and that was the last we heard of the mutineers, as far as I can recall.

Right, the way the story was written it seemed like after they murdered Crastor and the leader of the Watch they likely didn't fare too well.
