A Poet Walks Into a Bar . . .

I only get to watch when hbo has free weekends. I'm caught up through the first episode of the new year. reading, it's a book?

It's five books, so far, with at least a couple more still to be written. The book series is called "A Song of Ice and Fire", and book 1 is "A Game of Thrones" (the others are "A Clash of Kings", "A Storm of Swords", "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons"). The four HBO seasons cover the three first books. They are filming much faster than George R.R. Martin is writing, though. It seems he is taking his time... I don't know when he wrote book 1, but it must be at least ten years ago.

...and HBO has free weekends in the US? Wow.

Yes on dish network but not every weekend perhaps 6 during the year. I'm waiting for the dragons to be unleashed. :D

excuse spelling mistakes lights just fused I'm typing in the dark
you've not lived until you've watched LOTR and finding nemo at an outside screen in tenerife during a festival and all the dialogue in spanish

What about westerns, Harry? Do you like those?

I decided to watch "Once Upon a Time in the West". Fascinating movie. I imagine most audiences today would get up and leave during the first scene (when the train arrives at the station; about ten minutes of three guys doing nothing but wait and wave flies away). :)

Takes a corner booth, cradles a small gin staring into space remembering. A gentleman asks if he may sit awhile, I turn and smile distractedly gesturing to a seat "Sure" .......... "Do you need a shoulder?" he asks. I nod and gratefully rest my head. "Stay as long as you need" he says draping an arm around my shoulders. It's good just to be held.

Quite possibly, yes...

I was just joking with the "conversion" thing. I was reminded of how my cousin and I decided to force his younger brother into liking rock 'n roll (he was deviating into abysmally bad music territory). So we started presenting stuff. Led, Queen, Black Sabbath, and so on. Mission accomplished. :)
Schoenberg?

Schoenberg?

Good morning, Mr. 12. I wake up in the middle of the night, feel compelled to reach for my tablet and see this question. Did you just wake me up with your mental powers to ask me this?

And no, I'm not incriminating myself. If it's bad music, I don't recognize it. ;)

edit: "good" and "bad" are opinions. Reality does not bend to our every whim. Except in dreams. Sometimes. Back to sleep.

Damn it's cold. Can't sleep. Hey 12, here is one for you, by Augusto dos Anjos. Shitty unrhyming translation by me.

Intimate Verses

See? No one attended the awe-inspiring
Funeral of your last Chimera.
Only ingratitude — that panther —
Has been your steadfast companion!

Get used to mud that awaits you!
The Man, who, in this sordid land,
Lives, among beasts, cannot resist the call
To turn himself as well into a beast.

Here, take a match. Light your cigarette!
A kiss, my friend, is but the eve of being spat at,
The gentle hand is the same that casts stones.

If your great wound saddens anyone,
Cast a stone at that vile hand stroking you,
Spit straight into the mouth that kisses you!

...I think he was reading too much Baudelaire.
