A Poet Walks Into a Bar . . .

damn birds, diminute
velociraptors, eyeing you
sideways, 'too big too eat'
they think, lucky prey.

some people think they are
cute, a symbol of love and
peace, even, but I know
the truth. they are allied with
the squirrels.

*puts on tinfoil hat*

Pour anything cold while I read my mail. I feel like my headsafire
so many ideas catching light in there, baby :D

i've got strawberry laces and a long cold bottle of cerveza - i know how to live dangerously

Two hens walk in to a bar and begin looking at all the roosters drinking. the drunk one turns to the other and says, "Look at the pecker on that one

this is a disaster!

i'm sleepy. pls excuse my lack of mental dexterity :)

*serves butters an espresso, places sugar and sweetener on the counter*

i should celebrate today by watching The Life of Brian

I learned of Monty Python by chance. Some friends and I rented the vhs tape, when I was a kid. It was an instant hit, every once in a while we'd watch it again. Years later, we went there to rent it again, and the clerk asked: "are you sure you want to rent this? It says here you've rented it 15 times". :D

now that'll just get you all wet n sticky. can i have mine in a glass? no, make that straight from the bottle :cattail:

*perks up* Can I have mine not in a glass, please?

says hello

The holy grail movie is the one we watched all those times. :D And I've watched the others - Life of Brian, The meaning of life, the sketches, etc.

Watching the meaning of life with no sound reminds me (I don't know why) of the wizard of oz with the dark side of the moon in the background. Did you ever watch that? It's awesome, it really does seem that they made the songs match the movie on purpose.

never done it but now i really really want to! dark side of the moon was my first introduction to pink floyd - at the late age of 16

(It might have been a slightly higher number, but 15 is much less embarrassing.) ;)
heh :D

well i can't recall how many times i've seen LOTRs or Jaws or Babe or the Harry Potters... embarrassment? who gives a flying pig? not us :D:rose:

i've not done it often, but there've been times i've watched things online on my old pc where i had no sound... if i knew the film, it allowed me to focus more on the actors' expressions, seeing things i hadn't consciously noticed before... it was like watching it anew, seeing with different eyes. good but weird! if i didn't already know the film, or news clip or whatever it was, it made me really tight focus on body language, lip-shaping, lighting... i filled in my own story. god only knows how far adrift i was but it made interesting watching.

now if there's one thing i do love watching it's space photography shown to music... from shots of our beautiful globe, to the moon, earthrise, mars, constellations, milky galaxies....

You need to start the movie at the right time. If you have the album and the movie, you can find the instructions online. Nonetheless, it's easier to download the edited version (with the movie's original sound channel replaced by the Pink Floyd album).

is it something i can find on youtube? i'm so lazy
the scenes of the film, where the tornado is impending then arrives, really made a big impression on me (and most children, i imagine!) - i saw it on tv in black and white. the colour version i didn't see till much later and it seemed almost garish at first. i kinda like black and white. the nuances of shading....
