Ok, so Lit is acting weird and not letting me quote y'all, but thank you all so very much for your thoughts/prayers/etc. I talked to my mother earlier, and my horse seems to be doing a lot better. They think he's going to be all right now, which is a huge relief for me. I know that he won't live forever or anything, but he's got several more good years left in him, I think.

Thank y'all so much. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.:rose::kiss:

Bunny, I'm glad to hear your horse is improving. What's a walking horse's likely life span?

Still can't quote, Yank, but I'll try to answer you, anyway, LOL.

Horse lifespan varies pretty wildly, and BBE can probably tell you more about that than I can. Walking Horses don't seem to live particularly longer or shorter lives than the average horse, as far as I know. Barring catastrophic illness or injury, I think most horses can pretty easily live into their late 20s and on into their 30s with reasonable care.

The horse who was sick is not even the oldest one I have, LOL. My oldest is 24, and I have had him since I was in the 7th grade.

...I suddenly feel ancient.

Did you pass straight from pre-school to seventh grade? I'm not asking a woman to reveal her age (old sexist pig that I am), but I think of you as being on the south side of thirty.

Oh, bless you for that, my dear Yank.

Yes, yes, that's exactly what I did. :p

Healthy Horsey Happy Dance!!

!!! YAY!! I'm glad your old man got through his colic alright, Bun!!

yankee, BiBun is spot on with her estimate of horse age. Your average horse's lifespan ranges from late 20s to early 30s, depending on its care and job. Honestly, I've found most horses actually live longer if they're given constant but low impact work (much like humans!!). Horses that retire from competition and become sweet ol' school horses that plod around with kids seem to do so well past their expiration date!

Blurt: despite above exuberance, I kind of hate my life and my job right now. I'm just...not happy. I'm sure I'll get over it, and until I do, I have beer. I love you, stout. I won't even hold it against you that you weren't the stout I was hoping to find today (Young's Double Chocolate Stout=pure indulgent sin)

Latest internet facepalm moment:

I definitely just read someone claim they could never adopt a dog, because they'd only want a pretty dog and adopted dogs are never as cute as a dog you buy.

I don't even understand that train of thought. It literally makes no sense. It's a statement so illogical that she must have just meant to say something else that, while ignorant, at least made more sense than THAT.

I just don't know what it would be xD

Maybe she thinks that all the cute dogs are on sale at Bloomingdales?

bleh! we are looking at three inches of snow here tomorrow!

Well, I must confess that without a calendar to remind me, I wouldn't have known. Seasons are more a suggestion in my world.

Sending you some sun in the mean time, as I am spring cleaning and it seems my garage is kinda cluttered with it. :)

I love cooking and trying out new recipes. Something I've noticed about most sites that allow you to post your recipes is that the comments do not make any sense. I always see something like "I tried this recipe, BUT I changed 1 cup of flour to 1/2 cup."

In that case, jackass, you didn't make THIS recipe. (-_q)

I can't help but feel annoyed when all the good ratings come from people that say things like "I followed the other reviewer's comment and added more of this. These came out great!"

U_U;; Really? You didn't even attempt the original recipe before changing it? You also felt the need to comment on the recipe you didn't make?

It's kind of like watching someone put salt on their food before tasting it.

Huh, I never read those comments like that.
I usually like when someone tries a recipe of mine and makes modifications and I often keep developing them myself. I guess I consider them open source.

When I cook something completely knew, I usually look through lots of recipes to look for commonalities and differences. Then I weigh them against what I already know about cooking. The endresult is often not exactly like any of the recipes I started with.

If I make a recipe exactly like it was written, it's because I want to get to know how the person who made the recipe thinks it should taste and that is hardly ever the case with things I find on a post your recipy site.

Why do people make simple relationships so difficult? All the unnecessary pain and heartache that gets caused.....it's almost as if we don't feel that we have the right to be happy and deliberately screw things up for the hell of it *sigh*

Chef Blackstock had something to say about this practice.
