2014 Writer Resolutions

I'm interested in writing more unique stories.

I've recently been inspired by other stories I've read to think bigger. Not necessarily to make longer stories, but to to think of a bigger scope.

I'm already working on my Valentine's story which features a female detective and lots of crime stuff. I also have an idea for Earth Day which features a Queen, and for the upcoming Winter contest, I have a story featuring a Princess.

So I'm writing things I don't usually write, and I don't have plans for any new incest stories (except for the one already written for winter)

I liked your Halloween stories. Looking forward to seeing what's coming down the pike.

Did anything noteworthy happen with your writing in 2013?

Finally found the time to start focusing on my writing, putting up 4 short stories for sale on the Kindle so far, as well as three short stories so far here on Literotica.

And wazzup for 2014?

More of the same, hopefully with growing profit.
If I keep up my current ~1 story per week average pace, then I should have 52 stories by this time next year, enough for a number of compilation books.
Granted, not all of those stories will be for sale- A lot of them will be here, for free.

Hopefully, I'll be able to crank out more stories than that, but it's not a bad minimum to shoot for, I think.

It's a matter of time management crossed with literary stagnation. I'll probably graduate with my third degree this summer, which means I'm armpits-deep in my senior project from now until then. Combine that with the fact that I have everything fleshed out for the book except the ending, and you see my problem.

I hate when I can't see the ending.

So what's the senior project? And what are all these degrees?

In 2004 I thought I needed a new challenge, so I very seriously considered going for a phd in some sort of online education niche. I had another baby instead. It was a good decision.

2013.. I transferred from fantasy writing to erotic fantasy.. So the biggest step possible so far. I am pretty happy with my first story reviews on literotica and my second is pending. I have started a blog with the same chapters, but obviously it updates on there first because literotica takes a while to approve (specially with the contest atm).

2014.. I hope to actually get some traffic through the blog, get to at least 10 chapters from this story, and start on a full length novel and at least plan how its going to end, even if i dont finish it.

:)

So what's the senior project? And what are all these degrees?

My current degree is in computer information systems with a concentration in web-based game development. My senior project will be to design an original browser-based action game using ActionScript. It's gonna be a blast. :D

My other degrees include a BA in History (with a concentration on mythology as historical precedent) and another in English.

2013

was the year I wrote, submitted, and saw my first story posted on LIT. It was also the year when other events cut into my free time and my writing has dropped to a dribble.
2014: I hope I can get back into writing more than I'm able to now.

My other writing goal is to have a story title beginning with each letter of the alphabet. A-Z

I'm almost there.

I've already got titles (and story ideas) starting with odd letters like Q and V, but the tricky one is Z.

There aren't many good and catchy story titles that can begin with the letter Z.

A few ideas for your inspiration... ;)

I got burnt out writing online classes, so I quit. I wasn't making much money at it, and I did nothing but work (outside of my real job) for three years. With all that extra time I was able to increase my story list from 7 to 13 stories. I was afraid I didn't have any more story ideas, so I'm pretty pleased with that.

2014? I'd like to try writing a sequel. Not sure which story yet, but I haven't done any stories with a second chapter yet. Seems like a good goal.

It is a good goal.

My first goal is to get back into the discipline of writing each day. That would help with goal #2 which is to get conclusions to the half dozen or so stories that are already well under way and get them up and live.

Next would be to reintroduce a lenghty story that I started posting in 2009 (under a diff ID) but took down early last year, and make all the people that are still emailing me about it happy by continuing the saga at the rate of maybe a chapter a week.

Then there are all those short-stroker plot bunnies bouncing around the garden that need attention.

Then it would be to move on to doing a sequel to what was intended to be a one-shot story but the fans are demanding I turn a stroker into a romance and multi-chapter it. The potential is there and the brain keeps saying "What if you went here with it...."

I've never thought about what happens to the characters after the story ends. It seems like it would be a brain stretcher to think that way. I think it will have to wait until summer though.

Sometimes I play the "what if" game in my head with them once the story is done.

My wife and I enjoy role playing so if two characters stuck with me we'll play them out, but to date I have never had the urge to revisit anyone from any of my one shot stories.

As for my SWB series I took Mark and Megan from their childhood up to their ultimately finding happiness and giving full closure and tying all loose ends. To go back to them would look like a desperate "hey remember these guys"

If we were paid here the expression would be "cash cow" like any movie franchise that goes past more than a part 2 or 3.

My one firm goal is about my writing, but not the actual writing itself

I have vowed that end of this year and next year I will focus on actually pushing it through social media.

I am trashing my original website and setting up a new and more serious one, I am going to create a blog and actually post on it and someone who does marketing for a living is trying to convince me to set up a twitter account.

I may still shy away from that one. As you can tell from my posts I am from the school of just shooting from the hip and am not exactly PC, twitter could get me in a lot of trouble.

Looking forward to read Jeffrey's Revenge...

You're right.

But pansy ass milksops out number the real American's

Look no farther than the GB thread about the 3 teachers who dressed up as the Jamaican Bob sled team including black face paint and got fired.

White guilt bleeding heart PC obsessed weak willed lemmings out number people with back bone 10, 000 to one these days. Just look around the boards and you can see that.

2013...decided to write a full out novel.

2014, try to complete the work in progress. Hope for some kind words on here after lots of lurking.

Regardless of kind or mean, pay attention to the comments based on facts rather than nominalizations. IT SUCKED is a nominalization, IT HAS TOO MANY COMMAS is a fact or not.
