HOW’S THAT HOPEY-CHANGEY STUFF WORKIN’ OUT FOR YA? (CONT’D): James Pethokoukis: 9 reasons why the 4-year old US economic recovery is closer to awful than awesome. Here are the first 5:

1. Annual US GDP growth, adjusted for inflation, has averaged an anemic 2.1% for the 15 full quarters of recovery, versus 5.1% during the same span after the severe 1981–82 recession.

2. As a result, the economy has yet to return to anywhere near its pre–Great Recession growth trend. If it had, the economy would be $1 trillion bigger today.

3. This recovery has seen the weakest increase in real disposable income of any of the seven most recent recoveries, according to ITG Market Research.

4. The average US household has recovered a mere 45% of the wealth lost during the Great Recession, according to the St. Louis Fed.

5. The economy has 2 million fewer private-sector jobs than it did at the January 2008 peak.

Other than that — er, and the other 4 — everything’s fine. Recovery summer 5!

I am not a liar. I have paid for all of my health care by virtue of my own labor. In the Marine Corps my health care was a condition of my employment, which I was expected to secure by laying my life on the line and leaving my blood and tissue in various far off places, which I did. I've received nothing for I haven't paid for in either blood, treasure, or labor. So do get fucked.

Man, you sure can backtrack fast. It's like your words mean whatever you want them to mean. Pathetic.

We understand your SO threw a hissy fit on you this morning. That's no reason for you to show up here and throw one. ;)

What's the matter, you don't think people pay for their healthcare with their labor? I know, you think it grows on trees, right? I'll bet you really think employers make SS contributions too, eh?

I pay for it by writing a check. Each month. You pretend no one provided healthcare for you. Your positions on this issue are muddled, serving your purposes as you like. You make this so easy. Let's get back to why PE ratios mean nothing.

A FAKE President

A FAKE everything

Fake villages will greet President Obama and other G8 world leaders in Fermanagh

Fake shop fronts and derelict buildings covered in billboards disguise economic plight

When the G8 world leaders fly into Northern Ireland for their major summit there on June 17, they will see a vista of progress that has been created to deceive them.

According to Ireland’s national broadcaster, RTE, local councils have hired workers to paint fake shop fronts stocked with attractive but illusory produce.

They have also been contracted to cover derelict buildings with colorful billboards, the better to hide the real economic hardship being felt in towns and villages close to the five star golf resort where G8 leaders will meet this month.

Critics have called the move a Potemkin village charade, named after the fake village created by Russian minister Grigory Potemkin to fool Empress Catherine II about the state of locality during her visit to Crimea in 1787.

Northern Ireland's government has spent reportedly $3 million tackling dereliction over the past two years, the environment department said, which led to some buildings being demolished whilst others have been given a facelift in a bid to take the look off increasingly derelict shopping streets.

There's no question where most of the money has been directed. Almost a quarter of so-called dereliction funds were supplied to local councillors in the hard hit County Fermanagh region in anticipation of Britain hosting the annual G8 summit there on 17-18 June.

In the one-street town of Belcoo, the changes haven't just been cosmetic. A grand deception has been crafted to fool the eye of any passing stranger. At a former well known butcher's shop, colored stickers applied to the windows show a packed meat counter and suggest that business is booming.

Across the street another empty shop has been set up to look like a supply store. From the window of a speeding limousine it's sure to make a favorable impression. But the locals aren't so generous in their take.

"The shop fronts are cosmetic surgery for serious wounds. They are looking after the banks instead of saving good businesses," Kevin Maguire, 62, an unemployed man who has lived all his life in Belcoo, told RTE.

"Where would you see a shop front in Northern Ireland like this anyway? It's more like something you'd find in Belgravia or Chelsea," he said, referring to the London boroughs.

It's not the first time Northern Ireland has indulged in deceptive window dressing to mask the challenges beneath. Last year a series of eye-catching shop fronts appeared along the main route from Belfast city centre to the grand Stormont parliament building. They were designed to hide the derelict stores that they only temporarily covered.

"Northern Ireland is in the international spotlight so it is entirely right that we should portray it in the best light possible," Northern Ireland Environment Minister Alex Attwood said in a statement. He did not add that it was entirely right to make up a thriving economy that existed only in pictures, however.

Woe Is Us....obamanom Icks Stinks

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. created 175,000 jobs in May in a sign that the economy continues to grow at a moderate pace despite higher taxes, federal spending cuts and a weak global economy. The unemployment rate ticked up to 7.6% from 7.5%, the Labor Department said Friday, as more people entered the labor force in search of work.......as people become destitute and homeless, they flood the jobs markets, to no avail Economists surveyed by MarketWatch expected an increase of 164,000 jobs last month and a jobless rate of 7.5%. Employment gains for April and March were little changed. The number of new jobs created in April was lowered to 149,000 from 165,000, while March's figure was revised up to 142,000 from 138,000. The largest increase in hiring in May occurred in the fields of professional services (57,000), bars and restaurants (38,000) and retail (28,000)...........well paying JOBS indeed.......... The manufacturing sector cut 8,000 jobs and government employment fell slightly again. Average hourly wages, meanwhile, edged up 1 cent...........Huge increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With that money they can buy more Obama BOOKS n BLING to $23.89 while the average workweek was unchanged at 34.5 hours. The U6 jobless rate dipped to 13.8% from 13.9%, while the civilian participation rate rose for the first time since October to 63.4%, as 420,000 people joined the labor force

During the Reagan administration there was a monthly increase in jobs of 1,000,000, so the 175,000 is a pittance by comparison, course we had a pro business President then too.

Please note that the Vettebigot is using PatriotMath once again. Reagan's first term job growth was 100,000 per month, not one million LINK

Reagan did create more jobs than President Obama in his first term (although it's worth noting that Reagan didn't have to deal with a Congress devoted to sabotaging his agenda).

Also worth noting is that President Jimmy Carter had twice as many jobs created per month in four years than Reagan did.

Pelosi On Obamacare: “I Don’t Remember Saying That Everybody Would Have A Lower Premium” – Pelosi In 2012: “Everybody Will Have Lower Rates”…

Botox-induced amnesia?

Via Weekly Standard:

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Nancy Pelosi responded to news that, contrary to earlier claims by Barack Obama and Pelosi herself, Obamacare will cause health insurance premiums to rise sharply for many people who purchase their own insurance in the individual market.

“I don’t remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium,” Pelosi said in response to a question from THE WEEKLY STANDARD. But during last year’s presidential campaign, Pelosi said that because of Obamacare “everybody will have lower rates.” Pelosi, the House minority leader, made the comment during a July 1, 2012 appearance on Meet the Press.
