It's a little late but just a reminder

I agree. Memorial Day is for those who have died. I just heard the twit on the news say something about remembering the veterans who died in the wars. Really? If they died during a war, they never got a chance to be a veteran. Argh.

It's almost as bad as people—especially in the media—who conflate concrete and cement.

Actually, scores of American veterans do get killed in wars.

How many WWI Vets also fought in WWII?

How many WWII Vets also fought in Korea?

How many Korean Vets fought in Vietnam?

How many First Gulf War Vets fought in the Second Gulf War?

Think about it.

for someone that runs her mouth trying to hurt as many feelings as possible, your asking people to be respectful for any reason is laughable.

i didn't even give a second thought to the holiday. didn't think about a dead soldier even once, could not care less who died for what. but i tell you what mrs, if i had bothered to acknowledge the holiday at all, i'd have done so by telling someone "thank you for your service"

She's not sadistic. She just doesn't care whether or not she hurts the feelings of idiots. After all, idiots are too easily offended.

Random thought. Memorial day started as a southern holiday to honor the confederate dead. Chur church service and grave cleaning/decorating. Dont know if it was the same day or not. Either way it goes along with KRCs point.

Definitely-not-soulen alt is definitely-not-soulen!

Good one! But you're still digital bob.

Memorial Day is for those who died. One more fucking idiot says "here's to everyone who's served" and I'm gonna fucking scream. Holy fuck people are stupid.
You're thinking of Veterans Day and Armed Forces day you fucking moronic fuckwit.
It's insulting to those who did die that you can't be bothered to understand that. Fuck.

Thank you KR. I am a Vet and I agree 100% with you.

They are two different days.

Officially speaking, the city of New York contains five boroughs, of which Manhattan is but one. In practice, no one in New York calls anything other than Manhattan "New York City" (or "The City").

As for England/GB/UK....no one really cares. Your food sucks and you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Actually there are a lot of people who live in New York who call all the boroughs New York city. Of course they all live in the "other" 4 boroughs.

Ha! Having grown up and lived in two of those other 4 boroughs, I can attest that this is not true. There was Queens or Brooklyn where we lived, and "The City," which mortals call Manhattan.

Schooled!

Remember when it was called "Money Makin'?"

That's some real old school. Nobody says that anymore and I miss it dearly. :(

I grew up in Queens. The issue comes up more when speaking with anyone from outside of New York.

Person 1: Where do you live?
Person 2: NYC
Person 1: Wow, you live in Manhattan?
Person 2: Uh, no, I live in Queens.
Person 1: Oh.

Is that New York City or New York State?

LOL No, most of us in the State will more than likely ask which borough, though if you sound snotty, we'll know you're from the Upper Westside
