I would rather have my kids live in a neighborhood with a lot of children from Islamic families than one with a lot of homosexuals.

Both Islamics and homosexuals have terrorist fringes (remember ACT-UP, anybody???), so that's not a reason to hate Islamics. 99.9% of Islamic Americans are law abiding citizens. Unlike gays, though, they are usually God fearing, pro-family values, normal Americans.

I would trust my kids with a teacher who happens to be a Muslim long before I would even consider letting them stay in a class with a homosexual teacher.

What is the origins of this thread of drivvle. Homosexuals are people. Heterosexuals are people. Homosexuals don't want to convert you to their world. Why must the "straights" invest so much energy trying to convert gays to the straight world? Is there not room for both? What are so many straights worried about? Will a gay person's homosexuality rub off on them? If it can then they weren't straight to begin with.

All the people who have been born with different pictures of themselves in their DNA have been putting up with the prejudices of the straight world all their lives. We finally have reached a point where those who are different are acceptable and now I read the absurdities in this thread. "Better muslims than gays around my kids." What the hell does that mean? Muslims include gays. Yes my mentally limited friends, gays can be Muslims and Muslims can be gays. So when you recruit Muslim teachers for your children how will you know if they are gay?

To my knowledge gays are not militant. Many people have fought for gay rights but in my memory not one straight was killed to further the gay life style. Can the Muslims say the same? Of course not. A strong majority of Muslims, I believe, are not blowing up non Muslims. But some Muslims are blowing up non Muslims. Gays are not blowing up straights.

So, what the hell is this thread about? Do people really believe people would have the DNA of heir unborn children altered to remove the "gay" part? A few major fools would do it but I can't see the average person doing something as foolish as that. Being gay in the 21 century is not the stigma it was just 25 to 50 years ago. And, in the future, I don't see people of normal and above intelligence caring about their offspring being gay or bi or TV or TS. We will look back at this ignorance and not believe we were ever so stupid.

I teach a few classes at a public university and Virginia's new budget law is limiting us to 29 credit hours in order to avoid the health care law's full time requirement. Probably about 1500 professors are affected by this, as well as another 8000 to 10000 state workers in other fields.

The real change for most of us is that we're losing classes and income, as contract instructors we do not get health benefits now.

This isn't going to stop in Virginia, public universities across the country are going to cut hours to avoid the health care requirements. It would be cheaper to hire another professor for 2 of my classes than to allow me to exceed 30 hours - so the state is going the cheap route.
