OK, I know this is a weird question to put here but I'm canvassing everywhere for feedback. I'm about done with Netflix. Fewer and fewer new shows worth watching and really terrible search parameters.

Any other service out there that is similar but better? Reviews? Thoughts?

Should I just give up visual media entirely???

If you're an Amazon prime member (free two-day shipping), you get tons of free streaming stuff included, all for about $70 a year. I don't know whether it applies to Canada.

There's also Crackle, which is free (but sucks) and a lot of free or low-fee channels on Roku. Mostly they're old movies and cult stuff.

Thanks DGE! I did the 30 day free trial for Amazon prime but that was before I left for Baja sooooo...not sure if I'm still a member, or if they're charging my Visa. I should look into that.

I was hoping to find something with good/newish content. I wish we could just choose a custom cable package but if you want HBO and Nat Geo channels, you also have to pay for 50 shit channels we'll never watch.

I will investigate your leads!

Hulu
iTunes

We don't get Hulu in Canada because...?? Because Hulu hates polite people? I don't know. It sucks.

The iTunes stuff, is it a pay-per-use kind of thing?

Also, I just realizes that I spelled it "Netlfix" in the thread title. Makes it sound like I'm addicted to nettles or something.

Can you get Vudu? Good selection and a choice of resolution with higher prices for highr resolution. You pay per download though rather than a flat rate.

Blockbuster is still alive??

Yeah, they switched to online, like netflix. It was, I think, a really good business decision of there's as no one really goes to the movie store anymore.

Swimming nettles?

Sea nettles. Never experienced 'em? Lucky you!

Don't know what your viewing methods are, but also, the ABC app is not bad for free content, although a little buggy for iPad.

UltraViolet sells movies and adds them to a cloud account to watch anywhere; Flixter is partnering with them to watch through their app too.

Some libraries (L.A. for instance) are also introducing free streaming for films.

Nope, never experienced. And I thought I'd seen it all!

Good gravy, you know a LOT about this. Are you some kind of entertainment tech big shot in the real world??? ;)
