That is freaking insane! That must have been hours!

What did you do? That a thick round pan and cut it in half?

Looks nice RED. My mom has talents like that, although she uses them less now. I grew up in a creative household. I can cook / bake but just don't have the urge to do so most days. For just myself? Eh, I'd rather pay someone to do it for me. I was saying to a friend over dinner tonight that if I had the money, I'd eat out almost every day unless I wanted something specific.

BrettJ in Canada - had schnitzel today

Thanks Brett. My daughter loves St. Patrick Day themed cakes. Last year it was a two layer cake, but edible glittered shamrocks all over the top.

I think for my son, we'll keep it relatively simple. Chocolate on top of chocolate, with some chocolate pieces sticking up here and there on the top.

I like chocolate cake IF it is the thick slab, stop a bullet and inch-thick frosting type. I don't generally like "fluffy" cakes. My favorite is a carrot cake with a buttercream (not cream cheese) frosting. But again - thick and heavy, not the froo-froo ones some places serve.

I try not to overdo desserts though, keeping my sugars down.

Thanks! Each layer was a full cake, no cutting in half. I own 5 round cake pans, three of one size, two of another. I made eight round cakes. It's slightly tipped one way because of those two slightly larger cake pans.

Personally I am not a frosting fan. Last time I was hospitialized, it was Mother's Day and my Birthday. My spouse made my cake for me and brought it to the hospital, where we celebrated. But my one request was 1/2 the cake frosted, 1/2 not. Up to that point I'd never gotten my request of a non-frosted cake before.

I'm the reverse. Not a big fan of a cake without some kind of topping. The only "froo froo" cake I like is the Jello Cake I mentioned because of the flavors and all. I don't even much care for brownies if they don't have what we in Canada call "icing".

I don't necessarally have a favorite cake. When I was little, I loved strawberry cake and carrot cake and would alternate them every year. I think this year I may ask the spouse to make a strawberry cake, using a recipe I found online that is amazing. Or I may make that for Easter Sunday -- hmm...

What? Omg. I LOVE frosting. Except when I make it from scratch. Then I have a hard time consuming it as gleefully as I do not knowing the ingredients.

I love strawberry shortcake and my mom would make that for me on occasion. I also used to like this Cherry Cake (it's pink) but it's hard to find now. Had bits of Maraschino cherries in the mix. I lovveeee Sara Lee's banana cake and every so often (maybe once a year or a bit less) I will try to find one in a store. It usually doesn't last too long and I keep it partially frozen. I have always liked it that way.

I liked it because I have red hair. lol I also always wanted to use strawberry scented shampoo, because I thought that scent would stay in my hair all day long, like Strawberry Shortcake's did. https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSdfyDH3ZfHoKz2bA2Ut_ZYw3JWiyVDvMYDJnvfwX9Ug8j3ahhI

In the 1970's, when I went to high school, strawberry perfume and shampoo was all the rage. About half the girls in my class wore it and it turns my stomach to this day. Now they wouldn't let you into the building with it smelling that strong.

An aroma I love is orange - almost anything orange. I used to have an orange shampoo but can't find it anymore.

My spouse has an industrial no water needed soap that is orange scented. He uses it often to get grease and oil off his hands.

It's the leaning cake of St. Patrick! Lol!

Yes, it was. :D

Yes, I've used that soap as well - can't remember the name of it, but I like it. It's slightly gritty, I think there may be pumice in it.

I believe it does. I have a pumice stone. It's fun to tease the little kids with my floating rock.

I believe that pumice is the only rock that does float.

I used to use a facial cleanser called "Snap" when I had acne as a kid. It took off a lot of skin but also did some of the work intended.

I like St Ives apricot cleanser. You should try that Brett. You might like the smell.

I believe you're right. I don't remember where I got mine, but I've kept it for years. I know I got it sometime during my teens.

Wow - of all the things you could've kept since your teens and you chose a rock?

I have several things but I am a pack rat. I am going to try and change that this spring.

Whenever that shows up.

I'm not a pack rat, if anything I've been accused of throwing things out too quickly. I've been asked in the past if I wanted to donate things for a garage sale, the only problem is I don't keep stuff around long enough for a garage sale. I get a stack of things and haul it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

That is not throwing things out, that is still donating them. I need to throw things out and plan to do so. What can be donated will be. My apartment is a mess - I simply have too much and it needs to change.
