That is not throwing things out, that is still donating them. I need to throw things out and plan to do so. What can be donated will be. My apartment is a mess - I simply have too much and it needs to change.

Start small and go big. You'll see once you start it gets really easy to do.

Already done a bit of that SCENT but we aren't talking small here - FAR too much stuff, but it will go when it goes.

My last move was a nightmare and I will likely have another in a year or so - so want to be ready before that.

Then sweetie better start!
I can empathize. I need to work on my garage and that's a nightmare.

I have enough in a 1-bedroom apartment to fill a 2-bedroom apartment.

Problem is - where do I put it? Some things can be donated, some can be recycled and some are garbage. Our building only has once-weekly pickup and it's stuffed as it is now. Plus it is still very much winter here. It'll go when it goes, but it WILL go.

Yes, I've used that soap as well - can't remember the name of it, but I like it. It's slightly gritty, I think there may be pumice in it.

That would be GoJo and you're right it has pumice in it, good stuff.

Just popping in to say hi and pounce Red

I really hope the forecast remains the same, temps in the 50's in a few days, had enough of that damned white crap! That and I gots poultry that need to be moving on to pens...

That could be the name or just one of the names. I used it when I used to do inventory at my friend's company (they sell building supplies to contractors, from little things to HUGE air conditioners)

It is currently 37 here today and I think the high for the week is supposed to only be in the high 40's. I really should use Celcius, but I hate metric.

We have companies that come out to the house on certain days to pick up stuff. Easter seals, homeless shelters, and churches. You can ask around then they can tell you dates.

I cleaned out my closets that way. Just put bags on the porch labeled for them and they came by.

Might give you some hard dates to work towards.

As I said SCENT, I plan to do things like that. Clothes I think I can deal with - I believe the Canadian Diabetes Society takes donations and I know of others that do. What the major issue will be is videotapes. Some I want but many I don't and I'm talking hundreds, if not a thousand. I don't know if they are recyclable or not (does the plastic make them so?) and if not, I hate to put all that plastic into the environment. Much of this will go, piece by piece, over time.

Well I think VHS tapes are recyclable. Hundreds? Brett get a handle on that fast! You just have me the heebi geebies to come eradicate your place!

I used to bootleg adult videos - a few a week - and had a device that overwrote copyguard when DVDs became popular. So I had - oh, maybe 300. Some friends of mine got rid of their TV shows and such and brought them to me. That added several hundred and while I enjoyed watching them at the time (seeing old 80's shows complete with commercials is fun) I don't have the time to continue. So, I will pick and choose and eventually toss things.

I do still have about 750 or more DVDs though SCENT. These friends of mine have several thousand but much more disposable income than I do.

Out! Out out!

Buy a 3 terabyte hard drive, burn them a to that, get rid of discs. I brought down a collection of about 200 DVD's to about 30. Music too.

Consolidate and remove.

I have a 1 terabyte hard drive. It's only got 20% free space. I likely can't afford another one for a year or so.

I don't like watching things on the computer and don't have the capability (yet) of watching things from a hard drive to my TV. So discs it is. THOSE don't bother me. I need to get rid of the things I am not using or won't use in the future. For example, I still use my VCR at times (and I have 3, actually but two are also DVD players) and have some tapes they haven't made into DVDs.

I am a collector / pack rat. If I can refine it back to collector, I will be happy. I have lots of magazines, comics and the like. I likely will always have too much stuff, but this has hit a point where I have to trim it down. I am not a hoarder (a friend of mine is but he might have just got a grip on it) but I do keep things too long. I need to go through cupboards as I have too many containers and several of those are recyclable. I keep some of the plastic margarine tubs for making / freezing hamburger patties (they are exactly the right size and I can usually get 3 or 4 per tub)

My new motto will be if it doesn't work or I don't need it, out it goes.

My policy is - if I've not used it in X number of years it goes - with the exception of mementos, like things from school/weddings etc. I am going to go through my file cabinet and get rid of those papers that I don't need because I'm past the 7 year mark of saving them, as well as get rid of some old church publications from a church we attended 10 years ago.

*sigh*

Daughter #1 just told me she's too sick to go to school. Maybe she is, but she's missed a lot of school now that she's home, where she only stayed out of class one day when she was away and living on campus. I told her, it's up to her, she's the one covering the cost of that education, not me. It just seems a lot easier for her to make excuses not to go to school now that she's with mom.

There are things that I could ascribe to that policy RED but I know what would happen. I would throw out something I need in a year's time. It has happened. But a purge is coming.

Good morning!

I think I just watched the weirdest Welsh movie. It's called "Assasin in Love". It's so odd but I'm like hooked. The redhead lead actor is hot though.

Well, I'm out of work for two weeks. That sounds good, right? Um, not really. I have viral pneumonia. No antibiotics for this, just some codeine syrup to help me sleep.

Oh yuck. :( :( :( Get better soon!!

At least you'll be here with the perverted folks - even more so than you were. ;)

I would be here IF I was being checked on so much. My sister is a Visiting Nurse. She stopped by yesterday morning to check on what medication I was taking. She was impressed that I said no to antibiotics with this viral infection. They'd do nothing.

This morning, a couple of the coeds stopped by to see if I was eating and still taking my diabetes meds.

Well, it certainly sounds as if you're well loved and liked. You'll be better before you know it.

 Thank you

I have until Sunday to get back to being alive. Big group of us going to a buffet.

Mmm... sounds delicious. I don't even know what kind of buffet - I think I must be hungry. I don't do buffets very often, but recently I have come to like Panda Express, granted I take 66% of it home because I can't finish it and it makes 2 more meals for me.

I haven't done a buffet in a while, since I don't eat much at one sitting anymore. We did this last year and it was a big hit.
