Okay fellow authors - here's a question that I am curious about. You all know how much I've written, right?

I broke the 1300 mark last month, in case you didn't.

Sometimes I start a story with the vaguest idea and as I write through it, the angle hits me. Or it slowly evolves into a slightly different story. Ever happen to any of you or do you stay on course?

Just wondering.

Ah, okay, that's a bit of a trickier lesson, but it starts with the "manage attachments" tab, that is found under "additional options" which is found under the submit reply and preview post button. Then you hit browse and browse through your files, choose your picture and then upload it. But the photo has to fit Lit. size requirements. So yeah, a more indepth lesson.

In regards to writing, I usually just start and let the words flow. Even when I've done novel length pieces I just let it flow. I have an idea of how I want it to end, but nothing set in stone.

No, I can do the "Manage Attachments" thing RED but I'd like to post the larger-type pics you all do.

Jag, I do often have outlines - this current one did - but as I write, I often find the story taking me where it wants to go or new ideas will come to me in the writing. Often, it makes the process more fun for me. I had a secondary thought while writing this current one that will give it a completely new spin and ending.

I have to use outlines at times - I have so many ideas and have to write so much (22 a month) that if I don't get all my ideas down somewhere, I lose them.

Well, Brett, I am very confused. Because if you know the address and IMG tags and you know the manage attachment thing, then I don't know why you aren't able to do what you want either. But as you said, you'll figure it out sometime. I have faith in you.

Browse

(Find the photo you want)

Click on the photo (just one click - don't open the file)

Click OPEN

(this puts the file name in the Browse bar)

Click UPLOAD

IF the file is not too large your attachment screen will show "current attachments" and under that will be the file's name. IF that is there, then up at the top of that same screen you'll see "Close this window".

Then hit submit reply and the photo should appear.

Copy and save this post, if you'd like and play around with it and maybe it'll work for you.

Eh I've been fortunate in that most school assignments I've been able to angle them in a way that interests me even if it's just enough interest to do the assignment.
Had an art history course I had to take for the culture, not terribly much interest in analyzing the art itself but since the time period and things going on around the time that the pieces would be created counted I would usually talk about the history of the era. Ended up with the prof commenting that she look forwards to my comments on pieces because she learned world history from them.

Fiction writing, I usually wrote off the top of my head and/or off of notes.

My technical documentation, is so regimented, I follow an outline. When I have to translate computeresse/computer jargon documents into American English, that I just write.

So I see that everyone has his / her own methods and most of us vary. That's kind of what I thought. I just thank God I haven't run dry after all of this time.

I've done articles for magazines, some comics (for my own fun) and this. I did essays in high school and loathed each and every minute of it. I could easily turn out a script (I own two CSI: MIAMI scripts) but I do enjoy the creative process of doing fiction.

Many of my friends and acquaintances are in the comic book business. I could easily write comics, I just can't draw them.

Once in a while the small comic book and graphic novel publishers will look for new writers, people to hook up with their staff artists and free lancers.

Many friends are in the business - I have a friend who works for DC both as an inker and commercial artist. I have friends / acquaintances all over the business. However, at my age, that ship has likely sailed. Artists, they want. Writers - not so much.

I do love the fact that I became a professional at an age where many writers have 20 years in. That was a lucky break for me.

I've written a letter to the editor for a paper and it got printed - I was giddy. I also wrote a letter to the editor of a magazine and it too got printed and again I was giddy. I saved both and still have them in mint condition. lol

The first time I saw my name in print RED, I was thrilled.

My first LoC (comic term for Letter of Comment) was in a book called HERO ALLIANCE. I was reading the lettercol and noticed the letter I was reading sounded familiar. Took me a few to realize it was mine (comics are printed months in advance so the letter was nearly 6 months old)

I now have literally HUNDREDS of magazines with my name in them (and the pseudonyms). It is still a kick.
