Phew woke up this morning to a chilly house, 43F in the house, 5F outside, and snow coming down. Chili is the order of the day and considering baking a loaf of bread.
It's really not so much of a matter that the Canadian dollar is strong, it's more that it's been fairly stable whereas the decisions to do all the financial and auto bailouts caused the value of the American dollar to rapidly drop. It's also a part of the reason why gas prices remain fairly high despite dropping demand, well that and the shutdown of multiple refineries. Of course if you think they're bad now I'll feel really bad for those in the Midwest when they push the Keystone XL pipeline through so that instead of charging WTI prices they can charge Brent crude prices for the oil, average $20 rise per barrel.
Sorry for the rant.
