It's a very open-ended computer game, in which you can explore a near limitless planet, dig around, gather rocks and minerals, build some really damn massive things, and fight monsters. It's lovely to look at, despite the deliberately old-school graphics.
I don't personally play it, although I've dabbled, because I have pretty lofty goals in life, and it is a notorious timesucker. But the nice thing about it is that its point is entirely up to the player. You can focus on exploration, and finding treasures and things like that, or you can focus on building, and make massive palaces, or 50-meter tall penises if that's your thing, or you can focus on the combat, and kill increasingly bigger and badder monsters.

my children and a lot of other kids I know, play it. They are obsessed with it. My kids will even watch YOUTUBE videos on it. I do not understand what the point is. But whatever.
(I think my kids are nerds/geeks in the making.....hmmmmmm...as long as they aren't the ones making youtube videos of hours and hours and hours of commentary of these games....we're all good)
