Morris Says A Landslide Is On The Way

Doubtful. The good guys need an enemy and Socialism needs an excuse. As long as they can find one lone Akin, they can isolate ridicule and continue to brand, after all, the press is firmly in their camp in this war where culture and feelings shove aside economics and reason. The Republicans will never be allowed to moderate, but lately that gaggle of metrosexuality has been seriously getting in touch with their feelings and treating reason as an ugly, red-headed stepchild...

They are now busily tattooing and piercing themselves (metaphorically) in order to be considered part of the cool crowd but they are still going to be laughed at as ridiculous in the attempt.

If you believe in something, believe in it dammit or fold up the tent and return to the corn field.

That's right, chief...stand by your principles. Whatever they are this week.

And the Democrats will never cede an ounce of credibility to any new found Republican concern for minorities. If there is one Republican supporting legislation deemed to be against the interests of minorities the Democrats will claim it's the national policy of the Republican Party itself. They lose no matter what as we move to a more refined version of "two aspects of the same party" line of thinking.

Where's this "new found Republican concern for minorities" to be found? Show me.

Hah? HAH?

Disagree. Your side has a short attention span that demands immediate results.

Back after your 1992 thumping, we heard the same "we need to be more inclusive" navel gazing jibba-jabba from Republican pundits. Since coloreds outnumbered Hispanics at the time, you guys made a concerted effort for about a year to recruit more African Americans.

When you didn't get the results you wanted as fast as you wanted them, you guys reverted to historical norms, declared African Americans would never get off the "liberal plantation" and in a few weeks you had lower approval ratings than ever before.

Good luck with Hispanics, though!

Well yeah. If the GOP cared about minorities it would have shown it before they became desperate for minority votes. I'm not saying that Republican concern for minorities should be automatically dismissed, but don't you think it's fair to expect folks to be a wee bit skeptical?

I think they need to shrink the party, invite all the Colin Powells to leave or to become a rump party to those patient enough to leave for a third party to develop an economically reasonable alternative to the failure of looting and the inevitable, impending collapse. Look at California, they do not see an economic problem, they are perfectly comfortable with the idea that when the national economy improves, then the money will be there to continue to spend, but as the country turns more Californian, we now clearly see that we are victims of a global economy, the cure, of course, being a new UN tax in order to stimulate the Mercantilist/Socialist economies of the second and third world...

Eventually you will have to blame the Army of Mars.

;) ;)

After the 2008 election Karl Rove and others said the GOP needs to be more inclusive of women and minorities. Then they made no effort towards that goal and pursued a pure white guy strategy. Now they're saying the same thing again but this time they're serious or something?

It is dying, but it laughs.

And, I might add, celebrates...

"We know that the moment of greatest danger to a society is when it comes near realizing its most cherished dreams."

I think the whole notion is bullshit anyway. In the past it was enough to stand for free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government. The real truth is we have finally reached what I have predicted for years, a simple struggle between those who produce wealth and those who consume it. The establishment has pulled together a vast constituency for taxing their neighbors in the private sector that can out vote them as well. A whole new paradigm.

In the past social issues didn't matter because most of society didn't want them to be part of politics. Then over the last 100 years that all changed in fits and starts and conservatives (regardless of party) always lost because of it. So no, it's not enough to stand up for the things you just mentioned because politics has become far more involved. Not to mention Republicans have their own version of individual freedom which says that some people should be freer than others. You all are pissing people off and losing votes because of it.

We need a strictly Private Sector Party and kick out every government lifer. We need party leaders who are not working for the government.:D

Too late. The only course-changing event will not come by election but by disaster.

History repeats, we observe, Atilla and the Witch Doctor do not learn.

This time, thanks to "evolution," it will work.

You betcha!

I think you are way off base. If the Republicans had merely remained silent on social issues we may have President Mitt. If they had actually not engaged in the war on women then Obama would have lost by 3M votes.

Once the GOP breaks the grip of the fundamentalist Christians 'free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government." is going to work for them again. The things is - they never will!

They have been educated in the Kantian metaphysic that their primary directive is the morality of self-sacrifice and that self-interest is immoral. Under this auspice, the rich man is evil, the poor man good and the goal of the man in the middle class is to fight the former and reward the latter and the economic theories needed to justify the looting will be created on the fly as circumstances dictate and the foundation of these theories is of course, envy and class warfare. Anyone who would stand in the way of their Holy Crusade will be pogrommed. There is a new Jew in the Western World: John Galt.
