Women vs. Porn....

"My problems with porn lie mostly in the acting, lighting and wardrobe - or lack thereof. Watching two untalented, badly lit people who can't act well enough to get cast in a Burger King commercial have sex with each other doesn't make me want to have sex."

Frankly, I think she's more right than wrong. The Best porn film I have ever seen was French.
But then, I don't look at it much these days.

I'd be interested to know what she considers a good porn film.

Good, Porn, Film. Those three words should never meet in the same sentence. JMHO of course.

That article reads like the rambling of a sub-par blogger still in search of their basic theme.

"Porn! I don't like it. I sure do like burgers. Mmm, burgers. So, do you think women in porn are crazy? I asked around my office, because that's what we call research here at MSN. I wonder if there are any burgers in the cafeteria. Boy, what's the deal with pubic hair... and airline food?"

People get paid to write this garbage?

Yup, they sure do. Poor attempts at humour, at best, but I understand her reasoning. Porn sucks. It always has, but men don't care, as long as there is sex, big tits and cumming. Women have hated it for as long as men have liked it, but recently, women have stepped in and put a feminine twist to it. It certainly appeals to women more, but men find there's too much story, not enough action.
Someone will get the right mix and make a fortune.;)

I guess blogging on porn and sex and women is the kind of thing that gets hits, but there was nothing new in that article. I did laugh out loud about her interviewing the men in her office, or trying to.

When I read things like this, it just shows me that people are coming at the topic from parallel but offset planes, and they'll never meet. Men and women are different. She's asking him questions that occur to women, but that men don't even think about.

I was not at all surprised at Tom's answer: men like women in porn films b/c those women are in porn films. It seems to boil down to men like watching women have sex and the physical characteristics aren't that important. It's been said time and again that men are more visually stimulated than women, so perhaps that's the basic reason. Perhaps most women need more than just the visual.

I thought normal women were sex crazy. Are you people living in a different world?

I know what a good porn film would be-- but I haven't seen it yet. At least, not for heterosexual women.
I hear that there are some companies that are trying to produce good porn.

Well, I can attest that variations of the same thing work for me, even when I consciously 'think like a woman'

the battle continues. Do sex crazy women really appeal more to men, than 'normal' women?

No, not if the men are smart. Guys don't really want sex-crazy women. We want a woman who's sex-crazy when we're in the mood. 'Normal' women come close, but the timing's sometimes off by a bit.
Jeez, I wouldn't want my wife climbing all over me while I'm trying to finish my breakfast, lunch or dinner! And some guys like sports. Do you want your wife/girlfriend/partner trying to drag you away from a championship game?
'Normal' women have their down time and we have ours.

Winner.

The fantasy is a nymphomaniac. I don't think the guys that want that really consider the reality of the situation. She wants sex. All. The. Time.

Really, you want someone who wants sex exactly when you want it. Wow, how strange-- that's what women want, too!

I must be a man, I always fast forward through the storyline part to get to the point of it... the sex. LOL.

My problem with porn is that there aren't enough good looking guys doing it. The chicks tend to be okay for the most part, and those that aren't don't particularly bother me... but it seems like a lot of guys in porn don't have to be that attractive.

I'm more turned on by the Magic Mike trailers than I am by most pornos. Not that it stops me from looking, but it ends up being more of a human fascination and research thing than a turn on thing for me.

I agree.

If it's porn, the sex should be the storyline. If it's erotica, the attention should be focused on the eroticism.

If it's set in some time or place-- Planet Weegle, or a pirate ship, or Chef Margaret's kitchen-- then, in a porn movie, the setting should serve the sex. If folks have to fast forward through shit that isn't about sex? Then someone's done the porn wrong.

My opinion, anyway...

I watched my first porn in the late 70s. Some was the soft stuff, those silly movies like Boob Tube and Kentucky Fried Movie. Some were more adventurous like the porn version of Alice in Wonderland (which I thought was quite hot, actually) or Emmanuelle. I enjoyed them all, very much. I thought of it, in part, as "so this is what turns guys on" and learned from it. Some of what I thought I learned was in error, depending on the person I was with. I watched some more, at a XXX theater on a date that started out as a dare. It was still hot, but obviously not nearly as plotted out.

Himself and I watched some new porn a few years ago. The vanilla stuff was, quite honestly, stupid. He got chuckles because I kept critiquing the blowjob scenes. We watched some vintage stuff, too. While the quality clearly suffers due to better filming techniques, I still think the flicks from the 70s/80s was better done. The new BDSM films, though, were pretty good. I think, because of the US limitations, the POV shifts and the visuals/staging become much more important.

Of all of the new films, I think the lesbian focused ones are the very best. They're artful, just enough plot to make everything make sense, and damned hot. But then, I'm bi, and I'm not sure absolute hetero people would enjoy them the same way, especially straight women.

I'm not against porn, obviously. Still, I good piece of well-written story will get me much more hot & bothered most of the time than a movie will.

The first porn movie that captured my attention, was the Story of O. I had no idea of any of what went on, but I had a better understanding of things after watching it (several times, lol) The porn that's churned out day after day is meant for instant gratification only. The sex has to have a reason, a story for it, to mean anything, whether it a fantasy, or a real situation that the movie as a whole has some merit.

Well said..I learned a lesson in trying to give my ex a bj while he was watching sports on TV. He wasn't kind about refusing the bj. Possibly part of the reason we're no longer together.

Holy shit! That is a dream of mine. I'd be watching tv (could be a sporting event or whatever) and my wife comes downstairs. She doesn't say a word as she closes the recliner. Dropping to her knees she opens my pants and...

At that point I am screw the TV there is something better on live in front of me :D

Part of that scenario happened. Unfortunately, sports won out over a bj and I never forgot the humiliation and the cruelty of my ex's words. I guess this was the defining moment when I realized how important sports was to the ex. Anyway hope your dream comes true with your wife. :)
