My reaction, too. It seems obvious.

There are so many things to like.

High heels are sexy. Their form is sexy in itself, and they accentuate a woman's legs and figure.

They can be cheap and exaggerated, which has its own appeal, but they can also be stylish and elegant, and give an air of money and class.

There's an obvious fetishy appeal.

You don't HAVE to wear them to bed, but why not? They don't get in the way, unless you've got a thing for a woman's instep.

You know, this thread has made me realize that I have paid almost no attention to my characters footwear in most of the stories I've written. I think I probably need to punch this up a bit, given how pervasive it is in porn. Clearly there's an audience out there who wants stilettos on all their leading ladies.

I'm of the view that details DO matter. Not for everyone, and obviously not the same way for everyone. But if you take the time to describe just the right sort of heel on a woman, the shine of the leather, and of the way she looks in it, or how she pivots on it on the floor of an expensive restaurant to show off for her date, or the way she slowly removes it (or he slowly removes it) in the bedroom, some readers will care. And those are the types of readers, I think, who are more likely to let you know that they care.

I have a thing for high-heeled wedge sandals. Hot, MILFy moms wearing them in short skirts or in a bikini by the pool. If I read a story and encounter that, I'm going to notice.

Many people have rather odd toes or feet, which might put off a casual viewer. Porn films tend to avoid showing the man's feet, but when you have a shorter woman in bed, having shoes makes it easier to show her length of leg off while attracting more viewers than might be put off by feet.

It also adds to the 'so desperate for sex they don't bother undressing' feeling, while also getting to see lots of skin where other clothes have been removed.

Definitely a comment that someone could misconstrue, but not necessarily racist. If taken at face value it's really no different than saying, "the redhead over there," or, "the guy with the size 14 shoe."
