3-4 way SLI graphics cards

Someone told me that the only time having more than two GPU's in SLI/CrossfireX setup is when you have a 2560x1600 resolution monitor, OR multiple monitors.

I was thinking of building a 3-way SLI Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 PC with the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, 16GB RAM, and the Intel Core i7 3690X processor.

Do I really need three Keplers if I have a 27" 1920x1080 monitor?

This is what it looks like.

Better have a beefy power supply because each one of them uses ~350 watts of electricity at full load.

I recommend the silverstone 1,500W PSU.
