Upgrading my graphics cards

I was considering upgrading my two Radeon HD 5870's (1GB) to a single GeForce GTX 680.

Would one flagship Nvidia card be faster than two antiquated ATI Radeon cards? The Nvidia GK104 "Kepler" card is a fire-breathing beast and takes the throne as the fastest graphics card on the market.

My ATI cards only have 1GB of memory each, which limits performance on high resolutions and with anti-aliasing enabled.

The Nvidia cards come with 2 or 4GB of memory, which should give me a noticeable improvement in many situations.

I was curious if a single GTX 680 would outperform my two Radeon cards in crossfire setup.

You claim to have an I.Q. of 89.

So, leave it to the Geek Squad.

I was thinking of swapping my two Radeon HD 5870's (1GB) to a single GeForce GTX 680. (I checked on google, and that's what those two electronic bits are called! Why can't they have simple names.... I never got to go to college to learn those fancy names :()

Would one supercool Nvidia card be faster than two really old ATI Radeon cards? The Nvidia GK104 "Kepler" card is a 'fire-breathing beast and takes the throne as the fastest graphics card on the market' (I love how I can copy&paste stuff from the internet to make myself sound smarter!).

My ATI cards only have 1GB of memory each, which limits performance when there's lots of stuff on the screen and with 'anti-aliasing enabled' (did I say I love c&p from other websites, so it seems like I know what I'm talking about!!!) :D

The Nvidia cards come with 2 or 4GB of memory, which should make things faster and not so jerky on my screen.

I was curious if a single GTX 680 would be better than my two Radeon cards once I get a real professional who actually know what this all means to set it up?

With an IQ of less than 90, this is how this post should have been written.

You are a complete fraud, mike.

The 2GB on the Nvidia card should give me a noticeable improvement in performance in games like Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, GTA 4, and so forth..

1GB causes a staggering drop in FPS in many situations.

It isn't necessary to have more than 2GB of VRAM for 1080p resolution.

Crysis 3 is an eyegasm! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWvgETOo5ek

You have no need to upgrade your graphics card(s) as all you do is post to the GB as yourself and who knows how many alts. Text doesn't require a high powered graphics processor, so leave well enough alone.

If winning an online wargame against unknown online gamers is important enough to your ego and self image that you are willing to spend $thousnds on equipment - then by all means I suggest that you purchase not only one, but instead - TWO GTX 690s.

Why go light? Your box will have a slot sitting empty if you get only one.

But then he would have to upgrade his power supply and...and...and...crap, might have to do that anyway with just one.
