Chris Mooney explained recently that there was something wrong with the conservative brain. Perhaps, per a new Pew study, it’s that,


GOP-sympathizers are better informed, more intellectually consistent, more open-minded, more empathetic and more receptive to criticism than their fellow Americans who support the Democratic Party.

“Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey, as is typically the case in surveys about political knowledge,” said the study, which noted that Democrats outscored Republicans on five questions by an average of 4.6 percent

Allowing gay people to marry would be a boom for the economy, not infringe on other's in any way, provide equal treatment under the law yet the conservative right fights it tooth and nail.

I would say the "god hates fags" and other signs these fuck's wave around are spot on with christian conservative values, are they not?

I can come up with other conservatives acting like douches at other events screaming liberty while they push for social control measures...and you know I can.

Not even part of the discussion, but I'll bite because you made a great comparison.

Despite the different actions taken the reasoning behind standing your small child in the freezing cold or on a suicide bomber mission is the same. "god gave me the authority to dictate your morality and life style to you. There fore I must do everything I can to make sure I push those morals and that life style as far up your ass as I possibly can."

Religious based conservatism like that in the middle east and US, has this idea that simply because you have a upstanding and absolutely flawless religion you have the authority to tell everyone else how they should live their lives.
