smoked my last cigarette?

eh. why bother? it gives me something to do and it makes my voice all rough and awesome.

my aunt's lying in a hospital bed and it doesn't look good at all.
that's why. she's in her mid fifties.

i don't want it to be me.

unfair to too many people.

I kicked the habit on New Years eve of 2005. I only wish I had quit earlier.

My last was summer 2006.

Pills ...patch, but mostly I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

The money and time I saved is amazing.

I was ready to stop.

I quit 2 months ago... and then again every time I relapse. But I've had the same pack for 2 months, and I only smoke when my nerves are threatening to shake my fucking body up. But yeah, I quit. It's not a habit anymore, it's not like I wake up and reach for the pack, make some coffee, have a ciggy, walk to class, have a ciggy, etc. I quit. I'm in the quitter group.

I'll probably do this my entire life though, the 'occasional' cigarette.

I used to think that if only I could limit myself to two or three smokes a day, that would be perfect. The problem, of course, is limiting yourself. Three isn't enough.
Anyway, in the fall-winter of 2010 I'd been in and out of the ER several times until I was finally diagnosed with a rotten gall bladder. On each hospital visit I got the queries about smoking, and each time I told them I was not interested.
Then I got my gall bladder removed (Dec. 2010), and a few days later I quit. I told my bride the smokes tasted off and she recommended filling the prescription for the patch. I only wore the patch about a week.
After 35 years and several attempts to quit, I still can't believe how easy it was. There are days when I don't even think about smoking, and the times I do the thoughts are so fleeting there is no chance I'll light up in a moment of weakness.
If I did, then I couldn't say that I haven't smoked in 16 months.
And over the course of a month, the extra money not spent on smokes is substantial.

anyone quit recently or doing it now?
thinking about doing it?

I stopped smoking about five years ago and once I decided to do it, it was easy-peasy. But for some reason, I dream that I'm skulking around smoking like a schoolgirl afraid to be found out by her parents. Weird.

I don't have a problem limiting myself. I don't smoke because I want a cigarette, I smoke, like I said, maybe one every couple of days when my nerves are really, really bad. Hell, sometimes longer- sometimes I'll go weeks without smoking. I really don't consider myself a smoker anymore, anymore then I would consider myself a pothead if I took the bit that was passed to me at a gathering every so often, you know? That kind of deal. There are smokers, nonsmokers, and regular folk, I guess, in my mind. It's not an all or nothing deal...

Very little is with me, though....

I stopped just after high school (6 years ago) cold turkey.

I glad I did : )

Thinking about it, but when I live with 3 smokers it's kinda difficult especially when those smokers are twats and constantly offer me cigarettes after the first few days

ewwwwwwwwwwww.. cigarette smoke makes your teeth brown and your breath stanky and your hair and clothes smelly.

Glad you quit! Good Luck!

OK, I'm guilty of this- it's not that I'm being a dick. I'm just so used to sharing- it's the same thing that makes me pass the joint to someone who doesn't smoke, even though they wave me off every time, I still try to pass it every time. In my mind, it's actually the opposite of dickishness.

I want a fucking cigarette.

No my housemates are just arseholes lol they never share normally.

Not if you take care of your teeth. Brush floss and rinse with mouthwash three times a day and you'll be fine.

As for the smell yes it does stink but that's why I always make sure I have perfume on me and gum to chew afterwards if I'm not at home

Since I quit the nails, I bought two cars, and a whole lot of other stuff.

Then you just smell like perfume covered smoke.
Smokers can be smelled a mile away.

The teeth? They're stained. But denial is a wonderful thing

I hope one day you can quit as well. You'll be happy you did.

I stopped 22 years ago (while I was smoking a pack a day) ... probably still the best decision I've taken so far

I have my teeth cleaned by my dentist on a regular basis so there's no denial what so ever that my teeth aren't stained.

And even if I did quit I'd still smell of smoke because unfortunately I live with THREE other smokers.

God, I love that fucking smell...

Everything stains your teeth. Coffee, juice, food- she's just being all anti-smoking.

Teeth are not supposed to be bleach-white. That always freaks me out- people who bleach their teeth... I really don't know why, it just always has. I like unnaturally looking stuff on folk, but bleaching just freaks me out. Ass bleaching to. Let your body be the color it is.

Holyfuckshit- is that a grey hair? What color is black in dye form?? *panic*
