I'm not sure what that sort of research could be usefully applied to, unless you were planning on doing pin-up art or something like that and wanted character ideas.

But anyway, my ideal man is under 5' 8", skinny, pale, long straight black hair, no facial hair, narrow nose, and high cheekbones. Tattoos and piercings are optional. Clothing preferably goth-ish or clubwear, or if he's in a historical or fantasy setting that lends itself to all sorts of awesome clothes like knee boots and cloaks or mage robes. He should be really smart and eloquent and have at least a moderate amount of money; if it's a fantasy setting he could be a mage or a super villain or the adviser to a king or a nobleman of some sort or perhaps a pirate captain.

Heh, I do quite like Snape, Alan Rickman has a marvelous voice and was a nice choice for that role. I'm also a fan of Grima Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings. And Jareth in Jim Henson's Labyrinth; long blond hair is almost as hot as long black hair, and David Bowie is hard to beat as far as pretty-faced and pretty-voiced men go. And there are half a dozen anime minor villains I'd drool over, to go with these fantasy movie villains.

That's certainly true about the famous/infamous "magic pants" lol. They're drop-front breeches, technically, but I only know that because clothing design is one of my various hobbies. Your friend who likes him, tell her she should go on youtube and look at music videos of Skid Row if she's not already familiar with them, she would probably really like the lead singer.

Wormtongue, in the books he's not appealing but in the movies they gave him that backstory about being unrequitedly in love with Eowyn, and it makes him fit the woobie archetype. That "I'm hurt, comfort me" emo vibe that appeals to women who have nurturing instincts.

My perfect woman isn't necessarily defined by "physical" characteristics. Although I prefer slim women, I've had some lady friends who were on the plump side as well. I've had mostly white partners although I had a black girl friend for a while. My thing is attitude. I love women who are very open about their sexuality and accepting of mine. Maybe research was the wrong term. Call it personal curiosity / character ideas. Weirdly for a fantasy story Good villain type, love it. It's still in conception stages though atm, so a ways off right now. Mind if I slot him in?

This is fun if you're in the mood. I am.

I suppose physically my ideal woman is fairly voluptuous or well upholstered, with a cleavage she's not shy about showing off. I like a small 'button' nose but a very strong mouth with prominent lips. She would emphasize this with super-thick, red lipstick.

I love a woman with short hair so I guess I'd go for that; I've seen a few girls lately with hair very short at the neck and an asymmetrical fringe and it's super-sexy.

I think she'd have a tendency towards infidelity but I'm unsure to what degree and what form it would take; maybe she'd occasionally get drunk and commit an 'indiscretion,' maybe she'd be a full-blown hot wife.

I seem to be attracted to dark-haired men of a variety of races. I also respond viscerally to large men who can tower over me and make me feel delicate. I'm only 5'7", but I'm still taller than most of the women I hang out with, so I spend a lot of time feeling huge. I love the idea that a man has the strength to overpower me, even if he won't. Dark haired, preferably long haired, bearded. Glasses are a HUGE plus. He's got to be arty, bookish, intelligent. I don't mind height, I'm tall so I can't be too fussy there. And I don't care how he dresses. Suits are good, as are old jumpers and jeans, whatever he feels comfortable in because that is more sexy to me than anything else, that he's truly comfortable with who he is and how he looks.

Sure, feel free, he was inspired by an assortment of fantasy villains and presumed-villains-who-turn-out-to-be-good-guys, so I think if you make a version of him he will probably work well in that role, and it's a character archetype I always enjoy reading about (if he's not too utterly sadistic and cruel).

Heh, I'll even make it a BOGO sale - you buy one pretty little fantasy villain and I'll throw in an angsty halfblood to go with him. While the little guy acts rather dominant as a reaction to his feeling that the world will always screw him over unless he forces it to do what he wants, the halfblood is the opposite, a big muscular guy who acts rather submissive and quiet because he's used to everyone assuming he is some kind of dangerous animal or stupid savage.

I assume you're talking orc/goblin/typical evil race halfblood rater than "look at me I'm a half-elf brought up human so I'm mysterious" kinda thing. I'm not too into the seecond type. First type sounds great though. Have you read Orcs by Stan Nicholls? Really challenges the archetype as well as being a good read with a few erotic scenes in it too. Some people I've talked to just considered the orcs humans with tusks bolted on though.
