Jackson said "Martin's case illustrated the high number of black students who are suspended from school. A report issued by the U.S. Department of Education last month found that black students are more than three times as likely as their white peers to be suspended or expelled".

Martin had been suspended from school for having a baggie that contained marijuana residue shortly before he was killed.

Now here comes the dumb statement (typical of Jessie):

"We must stop suspending our children," Jackson said asking the crowd to repeat: "Invest in them. Educate them."

I have no problem with the second part of the statement, it's the first part that is idiotic! KIDS ARE SUSPENDED FOR DOING SOMETHING WRONG!!!!! BY BREAKING THE RULES YOU IMBECILE!

Don't break the rules..., don't get suspended! IF the kids are educated and brought up properly (White, black etc.) there would be no need to suspend them BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT BREAK THE RULES!!!!

It's as dumb as saying "We must stop incarcerating our felons...., Invest in them. Educate them!"

You are no longer relevant Jessie (as if you ever were).

Agreed, how many times do the problem kids disrupt the class and prevent the good students from learning? Why should their education be set back because the teacher is constantly babysitting disruptive kids?

Unfortunately, with the 'no child left behind' mentality, good students are being bogged down by an underpayed underrespected little utilized system that is only showing more care and attention to those that, generally speaking, lack the desire to not get left behind in the first place.

Why educate when the rewards are so small? Why become educated when the world caters to the slow? Why try to better yourself when we reward you for your condition?

There are many other, more addressable, problems with our education system then this, Jessie.

Think he could mean educating them on the importance of not breaking the rules, what the secret rules of the middle class are, and that an education is important?
