Hey all! As some of you may know, I am a lovingly nerdy girl. Since posting on here about RPG gaming and stalking a few profiles, I have come to realize there are alot more nerdy guys here that let on! I also realized that, so far, I see no threads about gaming, which led me to create this thread.

Therefore, I am interested in hearing about your experiences with good ol' tabletop D&D! What is your favorite version, and why? What is your favorite character build?

Tell me about the D&D moments you and your friends had that you will never forget! And your most favorite character that you have ever roleplayed.

Hopefully we can all share some great stories and laughs, and maybe even strike up an online session or two. Thanks :D

So...you're into roleplaying? You won't need your dice here.

Oh and I will post about mine, with a little format that might help out:

Favorite D&D Version: 4.0. I know people say that it is lacking on the roleplay, which is true- when you have a group with two characters with the same main stat their skills tend to overlap. However, 4.0 is much more interesting in combat IMO, with many more options on the battlefield.

Favorite character build:
4.0 Ranger/Seeker hybrid. She speciazlied on moves that gave her extra ranged basic attacks, which let her use one of her seeker abilities each time. Once at level 13 I dealt out over 100 damage in one turn.. Amazing :)

Favorite character to roleplay: Netherese Noble rogue, that went awol from the family, ala Neverwinter character themes. She wasn't interested in stealing money- she liked to steal memorabilia from all of her adventures. For instance, a necklace from a corpse that washed up from a triste with a ghost ship, and jewelry on the walls from a dead noble's grave. By the time she died by a demon of Asmodeus's hand, she had a very nice collection.

What type of player are you? Powerleveler, Slasher, Actor, Explorer, etc?: I'm a mix between a powerleveler and an explorer.

Favorite Campaign: Definitely our recent Neverwinter Campaign. My entire group pulled together amazingly with our roleplay, and definitely focused most on character motivations over player motivations.

Least Favorite Campaign: A campaign where the DM is against you!

If you have any more you would like to add to the list, please do, and repost yours!

Try The Isolated Blurt Thread...

...that's where all the Playgrounders hang on the General Board.

Holyshit....would you be interested in a future ex husband ???

I have a feeling I'm about to get D20'ed in the face....

boring. and all the D&D types, video game junkies, etc. that i have known were pretty pathetic.

Favorite Version: None. At this point it kinda depends on what kind of story is being told. For me and my group of RPers the game revolves much more around the story than the combat. Combat is honestly just shy of a hassle that we only indulge in because it effects the story. Unless the DM blatantly forces us to retreive some sword to save the world we're not dungeon crawling. If a villian isn't sufficiently interested in killing us to come to us we're unlikely to seek him out unless he's really really awful. Hell unless we see personal gain or are threatened we're much more likely to simply leave the black barons territory or get caught up on whatever.

Favorite Charachter Build Fighter/Mage/Cleric in 2nd Edition. You rock the pants off everybody at level one and two, but because of the bizarre multiclass level system in 2nd you fall off for a while becoming severely underleveled and then all of a sudden around level 9 you're suddenly this Juggernaut who can practically go solo if he wants.

Favorite Charachter: Really difficult question. I'm narrowing it to one from each edition.

4.0 Rena the Catgirl. She was basically the epitome of a catgirl. Unfocused, cute as a button and generally annoying because she had really high passive perception so she was always the first person to notice something in the room but unlike other people who avoid traps when they see them often times she'd set them off because she was curious why there was a string there.

3.0 Derrick Crown Prince of Gralt. You could call him spoiled. You could call him arrogant and he completely in the right. However he really was that damn good and didn't mind letting people know it. He had some fantastic conversations with the paladin and preist from the party since Derrick didn't mind killing people, even "innocent" people if they were in the way. The paladin and priest thought it was best to restrain, knock out or otherwise incapacitate city guards who are just doing their jobs. NEvermind how unfeasible that was in most situations it was important to atleast try.

2.0 Creotia. Laziest wizard ever. She'd routinely cast tensers floating disc and just tie it to someones horse or baring that buy a dog so she didn't have to use her legs. Drove the party nuts.

Favorite Campaign: Probably Longblade and Chrynus mostly because the charachter gelled real well and we just kept it going for almost a year but it was kind of a weird one because basically I took every story I'd ever written at that point and mooshed em together. Kinda like Xena did with history and the Bible where she was around to meet Isaac but still there when Jesus showed up sort of theing.

Least favorite Anything ran by my friend Scapegoat. Mostly cus I'll get a good charachter and then he'll stop the campaign right as it's getting really good.

Most Memorable Moment. Bad one. When I'd mapped out this whole elaborate dungeon that was actually an illusion and a decoy for the real dungeon and one of my friends just making a few random observations called me on it, rolled a natural twenty and pretty much skipped a major dungeon.

Good one: I'd ran these guys through a basic Norse adventure with some side things, most notably a dragon named Aisizu who demanded tribute once a year. After meeting her and galavanting around a bit more they find themselves in a major war against these yeti like things that kill bears and eat humans. And they have a fucking Giant. The party is freaking the fuck out knowing full well that something that sized with back up is more than they can handle. They're telling the women and children that they should arm themselves for the final stand, it's better to die on your feet than it is to be tortured to death. While they're at it one of them notices a clearly Asian woman amongst the otherwise completely homongenous blondes and redheads. You could literally see the light bulbs going off as everybody remembered. We've got a fucking dragon that we've been paying protection money to encase a giant shows up.

The GB is too mean for nerdy threads. Maybe playground? ..

Uh yeah, that's why plenty of people talk about nerdy things.

Pull up your big girl panties or go back to your PG fluff and cybering that trash can fella you like so much.

Wait, let me translate this for you into your native language.

:devil::devil::cattail::cattail::cool::mad:

Definitely seems that way! I thought general would be acceptable, but goodness, I will try playground instead.

You could also head over to the Roleplaying Forums. Got some nice stories going in them if you are interested. You'll have your pick of the Online RP forum or the Sexual RP forum. The ORP is story focused, so if you like story over sex, then that's the place. The SRP is sex focused, so if you like sex scenes and no story, then you go there.

If RPing in the forums doesn't interest you and you just want to talk RP stuff, you might be able to do that in the ORP as well.
