Extremely few people with mild intellectual and cognitive disabilities are capable of attending post-secondary education.

I have borderline intellectual functioning (IQ 70-85) and was in special education for a few years. This disability was caused by bad genetics. I am a living example of the reason why they have abortions. I firmly believe that persons with disabilities should be aborted due to their future quality of life.

It would be extraordinarily difficult to continue my education beyond high school because of my deficiencies.

Is it possible for someone with an IQ below 100 to go to college? Most people with BIF (borderline intellectual functioning) immediately go to work jobs which require very little skill and education. Because anything else would be beyond their intellectual comprehension.

Most university students have an IQ of 115-125. According to the test I took, I have an IQ of 80-90.

Also, most institutions require incoming freshmen to take college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. My math skills do not exceed basic arithmetic because anything beyond that was omitted throughout my high school career. Some of them even require AP credits in these areas. I am going to have an extremely difficult time learning what I missed in high school.

For most people, at least those with average/above average/superior intelligence, college is very easy and simple. But for "special" individuals such as myself, continued education is extremely tricky. Ordinary people do not have the limitations that I do. When normal people go to college, there isn't any field of study that exceeds their intellectual understanding. Math, physics, science, engineering, medicine, nothing is off-limits.

The job and career options for individuals with below-average intelligence and mild cognitive disabilities are extremely limited.

Mike I've always wondered if you are who you say you are. I think I finally have my answer. If you truly had the level of cognitive performance you claim, there's no way you could write the way you do. All the spell-check in the world doesn't make you a coherent, gramatically correct writer. You understand punctuation and even minor syle things like how to hyphenate modifier phrases. So you are def creepy and probably crazy, but no way is your iq in the 80-90 range.

I completely agree. My dad has a Masters, but still writes like ninth grader. I know people who are truly disabled & they're nowhere as coherent as our Mr. Yates is. And honestly, I know people with cerebral palsy that have graduated with a degree, so I KNOW its not impossible, if you really try. Problem is, someone just likes getting his jollies off of whining.

Mike, your problem is a lack of kitty.
Get kitty, get happy.
Kitty = content to be you.

What about college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and even physics?

Isn't this a requirement for ALL college students, regardless of their major?

No & if you hauled your whiny backside to a college, they would tell you exactly what you need for your major. I had to take college algebra for my paralegal degree, but my friend didn't have to take a math for art history. So instead of whining about how low IQ you are, you head on over to a school, meet a counselor & decide what you want to be, should you decide to ever grow up.

I bet you talk to the tv.

Don't let him fool you people...Mike is definetly disabled

I didn't say I don't think he's disabled, just that he's not as dumb as he tries to pretend he is. Creepy? Yes! Stupid? His writing ability suggests otherwise....

I've read so many here whose writing ability is, well, pretty poor. He ain't one of em. The guy even knows how to use commas. I've taught people at the IQ level he suggests he has. He's not telling the truth. </shrug>
