Wait...that makes you, what, 10 years old?

No. I was in Marine Corps Recruit Training. Started 9/10/01. Zero media, no television, no newspaper nothing. To make it worse our recruiters told us that when we got there they'd probably tell us there was some attack on the US to motivate us and not to get worked up over it so even when they told us we kinda all shrugged and said yeah right. It was three weeks after the event that I found out it was true and by then it wasn't really being covered in the newspaper much and still no television.

That was a lot of words, and you even threw in politics. Do yourself a favor: look at what Christians are against, and compare that to what Islamists are against. Muslims are way, way worse.

A quick Google is your friend.

It doesn't matter what Islamists are against. They don't have any effect on my day to day life. They don't control any power in this country.

Well said, Merc. However, group mentality overtakes individual mentality, and that's when the problems arise. Speaking of strictly the radical elements of both sides, which would you rather have...the drooling, wild-haired crazies on the corner holding signs proclaiming the world is ending and handing out pamphlets, or the ones that fly airplanes into buildings and want to kill anyone who doesn't believe what they do? I don't fear any peaceful man, no matter what church he attends, but I do fear those who want to kill me. It's basic self-preservation. Peaceful Muslims are no different to me than Protestants, Baptists, Jews, etc. But radical Muslims are another story. Fearing them is not "Muslim bashing".

Do you fear people like Anders Breivik? Or the Hutaree organization who planned to kill cops and then bomb their funerals? Or itchy armed militia groups that use the Bible to justify their plans/potential plans?

Do not dismiss Christian radicals as harmless pamphlet-givers. There are plenty of them out there with the potential to kill innocent folks.

any "muslim" who embraces violence against outsiders and uses women and children as a weapon of war does so against the teachings of the koran. just like christians who advocate violence do so against the teachings of the bible. it's as simple as that. the concept of the "offensive Jihad" was created by bin Ladin and other lunatics and has been denounced thoroughly by clerics across the world.

when you use "muslims" as a blanket term you are referring only to the fringe radicals, which is exactly like pointing to the Westboro Baptist Church as exemplifying all "true Christians"

what people choose to do in the name of their religion reflects upon them and them alone. the reason that people are calling you bigoted is because you are directing a frightening amount of bile at 1.6 billion people based on the example set by a few.

think about that. 23% of people in the world are muslim. the vast, overwhelming majority of those people are not evil or violent or full of hate, yet you insist on tarring them all with the same brush.

personally, i don't agree with bashing any religion. i think the original teachings of jesus christ are admirable to the extreme, even if i don't believe in his divinity.

When a single-minded Muslim group has 2/3 of the House and Senate and 3/4 of the state legislatures then you can be concerned about them amending the Constitution and having too much power.

I have to say I don't know who Anders Breivik is. If I heard about him I didn't retain the name, I'll have to google him. Obviously there are radicals on both sides.
