Psoriasis, dating & sex

I don't have psoriasis, but at one point I did have chronic urticaria. Dating was the last thing I wanted to do back then. I was miserable, itchy, and frequently pretty scary looking. There was no way in hell I was going to let anyone see me naked. And that was the reason for my 6 years of celibacy.

Yep, living that wonderful life now.

I got it in my 20's, was already married. It was pretty bad up til about ohhh, 5 years ago. Now it's under pretty good control, I get it in little spots from time to time (usually when I'm stressed out) - and no - it's never bothered me - other than it itches.

My oldest son got it in his 20's too. He's got it well under control now also. It never affected his dating, or self-esteem - perhaps because he saw that it didn't affect my self-esteem.

This is becoming crazy. We met exactly a week ago, and have already seen each other 4 times. I haven't become this close to a person so quickly in about 15 years. The skin thing still doesn't bother me, though it still bothers him on occasion. I think I'm infatuated.

It would be ironic if the guy with psoriasis turned out to be the one that is not a flake.

Oh he really likes you or he wouldn't have done the nude bit in the light.
kind of a acid test of sorts.

I dated a guy with Ichthyosis for many years, if he hasn't pointed it out, I probably wouldn't have noticed it much. It was a problem, and he had really nice dry skin cream.

"Is it OK with you that I have psoriasis?"

"Sure. It's no skin off my back."

As a person with the disease, I have to say you are flaying me with your jokes.;)

At least if I get lost in the woods I can leave my own trail and not worry about it getting eaten by birds. :D

That name set off a reminder in my brain from a childhood book about dinosaurs. Wonder if there is a connection?

Noor! How the hell are you?

my husband has it. it has taken a while but he now has a prescribed cream that makes all the "spots," that will spread, go away. it used to plague his life to the point of his feeling self conscious. now, i can't even tell it's there, but it's a constant upkeep for him.

Pinky!

Craig and I are pretty much inseparable now. It's weird, we only met last Wednesday, but we've seen each other almost everyday. We both feel like this is the start of a great relationship, and have said so to each other.

He definitely feels self conscious about it. He started some kinda UV light therapy deal 2 weeks ago. PM me the name of the cream, I'll mention it.

Oh and you can see who he is. Go look at my FB wall and see who last commented on my pix.

So long as I have bumped this thread to respond to Noor...

It's funny, as I've said before on this board, dating at my age is like shopping for a suit at Goodwill. Everything is used and fucked up, so you have to figure out what flaws you can live with. To me, bad skin is an easy flaw, totally acceptable. BUT as it turns out, that isn't the big flaw. There's a bigger issue here. Sigh.

Something you can't live with?
Sorry to hear that...
