So, accuse and convict before an action is made, is how you think. I've gone head to head with Jimmy for years, but I do see moments where he has offered constructive input. He gets slammed at every turn for not having any written work and making comments on writers and their work. So be it. This site is visited more by readers than writers, so he falls in the majority. Should all readers be treated the same then?

I no longer rebut his comments with attacks and what do you know, he doesn't come after me or my writing with snide or cruel comments. I wonder why that is? The one thing this site and forum needs is a change in attitude towards each other and it starts with each and every one of us.

The choice is clear, continue the degradation of the site and its members, or change and adopt a more positive approach to coming here and posting.

I rest my case with your post. She made a comment that I felt wasn't deserved, for what was posted. I'm not saying Jimmy doesn't have a pattern, but he is actually changing if you took the time to notice.

Now, for the first actual posted response to JBJ's initial post.

I personally don't like to see topics like this brought up here--unless there's a writing angle to them--because this isn't a forum geared to such a topic and there are forums that are geared to the various permutations of this topic; because it invites arguing on issues where there's wide legitimate lattitude for heated, emotional disagreement with nothing to be gained and much to be lost in the sense of a writer's community here; and because I choose to be reading on this forum rather than a proper forum for this topic precisely because I don't want to be drawn into unproductive yammering on this topic.

Another reason is because in the hands of some posters, the introduction of this sort of topic is intended to do exactly what transpired on this thread.

On the the topic itself, I'm conflicted. The president is doing exactly what he should be doing--and the political system is set up to be done--based on his principles and political doctrine. If people don't like it, we have a system for changing it--which is operating in high gear on this issue anyway. I personally am not in favor of either unfettered access to abortion just because it's "my body to do whatever I please with it" or of "never, in no circumstance." I'd be happy to discuss where the middle ground on that is that I would be comfortable with, but I see no reason to try to do so as polarized as other discussants are on the issue.

Also, I do believe that life begins at the point of conception (one does not wish away their beliefs just because it would match political views on other matters--beliefs are beliefs). I also don't believe I should have to take care of all the children of the world just because some women don't mind popping them out every year in exchange for the pleasure of sex with some stranger and thinks it's quite all right for someone else to worry about raising them. So, as liberal as I am about most political issues, this isn't one I have a pat "it's her body and nobody else's business" support for. Both murder and a supply of unwanted/unplanned children are the business of society.

She said that writers who had published on lit could bring what topics they wanted to this forum, non-writers could bring topics that were related somehow to writing. If a non-writer's post were political in intent, as this one is, it could be moved elsewhere if it were brought to her attention.

I don't brag on my stories. I give examples from my stories in discussions. What part of being a natural and proper element of discussions between writers about that don't you understand? I don't tell anyone they have to write as I do. And I expend a great deal of energy here advising people to write just as and what they themselves want to.

Your need for this comparison is a signal of your own jealousy and need to be recognized complex. What really bothers you about what and how I post on writing here? That my profile leads to some 100 published works? (And you wouldn't do the same if you had them?) That I have quite a few green Es, the site editor's mark of excellence on my stories here--independently awarded? (And you wouldn't like to have them too?) That I put objectively given review comments on my published erotica in my signature line? (You wouldn't do so as well if you had them?) That I'm currently #112 on the top 250 list of favorities authors (out of some 50,000) here (and that you're nowhere on the top 250 list)?
