Lance, do not forget that the Christian missionaries in the old days were almost literal. If the Bible says homosexuality is bad, they'll regard it as illegal (witness the row in the Synod), so they ain't taking prisoners about it.

I think you might find this same stupidity in Iowa over the next few weeks.

I didn't know that the republicans were so strong in Uganda, but there they are hating Obama and hating gays and filling the ears of everyone who will listen with lies.

There's a thriving fundamentalist ministry/industry in anti-gay propaganda. I kid you not. It's everywhere, mostly shown in churches, but sometimes emerges into the mainstream. And the note about missionaries is accurate. They did their work so well that even now, the African branch of the Anglican Communion is far more conservative than the European or American branches. That's the missionaries at work.
