Had to add a description to my story, does this mean that it's moved to the bottom...

.....of the queue? That'd be slightly frustrating, though I'd only have myself to blame. I only thought to check whether or not it was totally necessary about three days into waiting for my first story to be uploaded.

Also, I couldn't use Italics in the actual text due to me only having docx. formatting for word. I had to use asterisks around areas that were meant to be italicized, could this be a reason for rejection later on? (I only do it twice I think and I had to, to preserve the flow of the narrative).

Not that it's been rejected though.

If I posed this question on the wrong board, I apologize profusely.

Sam.

In my experience, changing a submission during the "pending phase" starts the process over.

For italics -- or any formatting -- the easiest way is to insert the html tags, e.g.:

<i>phrase</i>

I put that in as I go along. Then I copy and paste my submission into the box on the submissions page; and then it doesn't matter what format the file is in.

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I submit here, haha, not re-submitting again.
Thanks for the advice.

Looking forward to reading it...and eventually seeing your "good looking face and that stays w/ you for life." /smiles/

.....of the queue?

Based on what I've been told, no. Had a writer who'd submit a story, see it in pending mode, would go back and rewrite in pending mode, submit again, and swear to me that it wasn't delayed. Could be a misperception though, so I offer no guarantee.

Maybe the MOD knows? Who is the MOD now? I know LadyC has been, pops in from time to time as she can, but is there a standing replacement? Maybe SR knows, he seems to feel the pulse of this forum better than any other.

I would imagine only Laurel can answer this definitively. The conventional wisdom is that, if you add to it/mess with it in any way, it goes all the way to the end of the queque again.

I believe that's "queue", SR. Just saw you correcting on another thread, so quid pro quo ;)

Do I get points for knowing it's not "cue"? :D

Guess this second glass of Shiraz wasn't a good idea.

Raising my third glass, and not some fancy wine or whatever that is. Some good old high-octane Kentucky bourbon. Better learning to control it now, as you may see evidence of.

Anyway, had you written "cue" that could almost be forgivable. But what you wrote was an ill-fated attempt to convey "queue" and so you will not be left off the hook.

I'll share a UK story if you'll entertain it for a moment. Was stationed in UK, new there, went to London and Piccadilly Circus to see the brand-new movie "Dune". A young lady came out and waved her arms about saying "Queue up please".

I looked at her with a confused expression on my face. She looked irritated when she restated the request as, "Form a line!"

LOL, still laugh about that. Two similar nations with the same yet different languages.

The most amazing thing, I'll bet, is that the Brits actually did it.

I say this with hindsight, but to me the amazing thing is that anyone formed a queue or a line to see that movie.

LOVE this movie, and not even a sci-fi fan.

And they had a balcony section where they served drinks.

And this was before I am today. Wish to be there again.

You didn't like Dune? But it so deliciously teeters between the serious and the campy. Classic Lynch-y goodess. And good God, everybody was in that thing. Jose Ferrer and Sting and Virginia Madsen and Patrick Stewart?

I daresay it's as good, nay better, than Stardust. ;)

LOL I have a feeling people are either for or against this movie and not much in between.

Don't get me wrong -- "Dune" was the first major sf book I read, and I thought it was great. I read it again before the movie, and was looking forward to the movie (knew nothing about David Lynch) and came out totally baffled and confused. I was 15 or 16, and the experience was not improved by my female peers who were there strictly for Sting in his codpiece. Gak.

For a more coherent version of the story, I suggest the SciFi channel mini-series, although I admit I recently watched this and it left me a little flat. I do think Kyle MacLachlin was a bit more charismatic than the SF lead.

Don't be dissing Stardust! That's Neil Gaiman, man! DeNiro, even!

Still, the best is Dark City.

I am willing to rewatch Lynch's "Dune," but will not make a major effort to do so. And the SF series had William Hurt! And you forgot Sean Young as Chani. ;)

I'm a MOD here and have been for quite a while, AS. :)

Ah, okay. Meant no disrespect, just didn't know is all. Now that I think about it I do recall LadyC mentioning something about you, being a mod, letting SR or somebody else running roughshod abut the forum.

Okay, good to know. I apologize for my forgetfulness.

And then LadyC disappeared. Maybe forever? I can hardly imagine Laurel being wild about one mod going postal (for no reason at all) on another like that.

Yes, I think this is what you mean:-

Yeah, don't she make a really great "moderator"?

I certainly don't have to characterize her. She does a great job of that herself. She even gets to throw in some libel. I'd love to hear from Laurel on the topic of the claimed shutting out of Snooper by anyone posting to the boards. Yes, I truly would.

At least I'm fair. Friends or enemies get called on the carpet when they act like jerks (just ask my great friend AsylumSeeker:D). I've received complaints after complaints about you being rude, railroading people etc....and those PMs were also received from Lynn since they were of the "report post" flavour and not once have I seen Lynn tell you to tone it down, stop being such an asshole or whatever else was needed to be done. Sorry, so so so sorry, not even a little bit:rolleyes: to let you prove my point.

As for the assertion that "shutting out of Snooper by anyone posting to the boards." It wasn't mine to make and I haven't claimed ownership of it. Learn to read....you know....dick and jane....learn to really read and not just read what you want to read.

You and I have been at odds from the first day you crawled out of your sewer and you didn't like me calling you a jerk and an asshole at the time, and you still don't like it.....well tough!.. I won't apologize for saying something true. What you do "forget" or fail to mention is the few times that I said that even not liking you at all, that I agreed with "this" or "that" comment you made. I don't have an axe to grind against you......I just plain don't like bullies and you are the worst of the worst.....at least Scouries is funny at times......you are not!!!!!

Last but not least. When I took up being mod here I asked Laurel what was exactly the purview of what I was taking on. Yup, right there and then she did tell me that assholiness wasn't something that "they" wanted to take care of, but that if I wanted to try and keep people being civil to each other that I was welcome to do the "dust up"......they certainly wouldn't waste their time putting themselves in the middle of petty fights. From the first day I've been working my butt off trying to make everyone happy and making sure that no one was being bullied........that doesn't mean that I'm incapable of stooping down to their level, (like stooping so low to get yours that I might think I'm in China) and fight as dirty as they are.

Yeah, well, you also posted the charge that MistressLynn and I were the ones who messed your posting account up. Really weird, that--although I thought it was great that you thought either one of us could do that.

And, thanks for posting the ravings of the immoderate "moderator"--all a bunch of barf, of course. Not much question why she isn't around here much, if at all, anymore. :D
