Writing Goal for the Day?

Taty, hopefully not something I missed! *sob*. But Grandmaster dweaver999 licensed Ch 4 this afternoon, so I submitted Ch 4 this evening, and I don't want to look at it again. My writing goal is to take a few days off, and start working on something else.

LOL I doubt it, estragon. I think LfT, like myself, just can always find something to tweak and adjust. As I've said, my husband has threatened not to let me read my old stuff b/c I always find things to change. Hmmm. Maybe I should password protect my Kindle...

Out of curiosity, how many of you have a spouse/gf/bf/whatever that serves as a beta reader/editor? What is that like?

I ask because it would be such a surreal experience for me. Mr. Tat read one of my stories... and after a moment of silence, said he probably wasn't my target audience. Probably one of the most depressing moments I've ever experienced in this little hobby of mine, but oh well. I didn't marry him for his ability to sugar-coat things.

For erotica? Not on your life. For my mainstream work, I usually have her read it--and she'll find a few typos and things, but she's no gauge on how well it reads to her as a story. I don't let either of my children read anything until it's published. I only show erotica to my editor before it gets published.

Probably not your target audience? Too funny.

El Chile (DH) beta-reads mine. He's not a great gauge for how it reads, either, but he thinks he's the target audience for everything, esp. the sex scenes!

My hub usually reads my stuff, and he likes it, although he tends to prefer the were stories over the "regular" romance. It's nice, because he often agrees with my beta reader on issues that need changing, and so then I feel like I'm on the right track when I have two people telling me the same thing. And at least with the normal romances, he can tell me if there are continuity or plot or whatever problems.

And yes, my hub likes the sex scenes no matter what the genre. ;)

I never used a beta reader or story editor, but I have received great help from technical advisers, and I gratefully acknowledged their assistance, both at the time and afterward. I inadvertently gave offense to one adviser by submitting before showing, an offense I will never commit again and for which I heartily apologize.

Writing is getting done in fits and starts these days... I'm trying, I am. Got the show scene finished, now just need to figure out how to end the chapter, although hey, when all else fails: sex!

No writing in sight for a couple of weeks. Good I've got material banked for publishing. What little time I have available needs to be dedicated to deadline editing.

Mr. Tat's away this week, so a whole lot of nothing is getting done. Sigh. I might get some outlining done today, but that's the most I can hope for.

I demand a Christmas card update!

(Yes, I admit to being obsessed with your Christmas cards. Can you post a pic of one when you're done?)

Words to live by, PL.

My SO doesn't even know I write erotica, so no, he doesn't beta or edit for me.

Speaking of reading your stories, LFT, I'm loving your Seven Years series.

I've been able to work with PL and my usual editor on ironing out a few wrinkles with Exhibitions 3 (I take bloody forever), so things are moving there again. Yay!

81 of 120 done. The schedule calls for 12 more in September, but I'm on the road the next two days, so there's not much of a window of opportunity.

No, of course I won't post a pic. They are a takeoff of the cover of my nonerotic Christmas short story book this year under a pen name (which was launched just yesterday). They are done in Chinese brush-painting style, but with watercolors on rice paper, so it's a minimalist style.

But, yes, pressure on this is one thing that's keeping me from writing. I am on deadline for a pen name cozy mystery, and I'm taking to the mountains for two weeks in October to get that written.

Ah, I see. I confessed after the first two Seven Years chapters posted.

Glad you're enjoying it, and best of luck with your chapter. How's the community theater? And the 1950s (?) meal?

Ah. I can see how posting a takeoff of your alter-ego's work (or, hmm, original ego's work, since this is your alter-ego?) would be a bad thing.

I've considered it, but he's not a real big erotica fan. Lord knows he knows I read it; I have enough anthologies!

The cast party went really well, thanks for asking. :) Everyone enjoyed it and I was told that my mac-n-cheese was, "Just like Mom's," by several people. My show... we haven't done the blocking for my scene, but the others seem to be coming along just fine. I'm looking forward to it.

Just read (well, looked over) Ch 6 and left a comment. :) So where's Ch 7? ;)

Glad the party went well. I love mac'n'cheese! Wish the kids did... and once more I am paralyzed by the idea of fixing dinner... I have chicken, but so many choices... Of course I could wuss out and do spaghetti. ;)

But perhaps tonight a little writing will get done. Perhaps.

No new writing, but I did get two stories submitted to Lit. before giving out tonight. Tomorrow to the sea and when I get back from there, to the mountains.

Wa hoo! Started R&B7.

Although it occurred to me I'd agreed to write an erotic safe sex story for someone and now I seriously wonder if I can. Plot bunny, anyone?

?? What do you mean, a safe sex story? Because if all you're talking about is using a condom, didn't your characters in Lost in the Woods use one? I seem to remember talk about someone being a prepared boy scout....

Hey! What would I do without you? I'd forgotten about that. I shall send it along and see what they think. That'd take some stress off; I was starting to feel guilty that I hadn't started a new one, but man, just not sure I have the time.

My goal for today is to keep working on my current erotic story until my erection goes down. Good thing I started before sunrise.

How about a pair of bank-vaults who fall in love and find a way to do the nasty? Wouldn't that be safe sex?

(Couldn't resist after your complaint elsewhere about a cheap pun.) :D

No problem. I remember because I was worried about my Earth Day story, which included a condom (along the nerdy line, "Worried about overpopulation, my dear Malthus?" which I'm sure not many people got, but damn, I liked it). Not many romance stories include condoms, but I figured if yours did, then it would be fine. :)

Good thing you're on west coast time. You'd have another three hours with one here.

Oh, that is good.
