This includes Litsters of all stripes, and, since this is a non-binding "straw" poll of sorts, even those Litizens from other countries.

I don't care what your political views are. Even Fascists like JBJ can participate in this one.

Full disclosure: I back Ron Paul on issues and principle, though I admire Fred Karger for having the balls to run as a Log Cabin Republican. Herman Cain has some strong points, as does Gingrich (though both have some negatives as well- Cain for his Federal Reserve background, Gingrich for his caving in to Clinton on some issues while Speaker).

I despise Bachmann as something of a lunatic and think that Perry is an opportunist (just look at the easy way that he went from an Al Gore Democrat to a George W. Bush Republican and then a Tea Partier over the past twenty years). He also has foot-in-mouth disease (feel your pain, there, Rick, but I'm reining it in, unlike you).

Romney is a Bob Dole kind of Republican, but that still beats Obama. Huntsman is a RINO. Gary Johnson needs to bow out and try for Ron Paul's running mate. Chris Christie will never throw his hat into the ring. (Too bad, he might win.) Santorum is the worst kind of zealot and will lose badly to Bachmann in the contest for the same voting bloc: the religious right.

Thad McCotter is a non-candidate, for all practical purposes. I think that he is just building up an organization for 2016 or 2020.

I will refrain from commenting on the Democrats' options, since they will no doubt not take my advice on suspicion that I am deliberately giving them bad counsel. ;)

I like Herman Cain. He's a businessman, has a pragmatic, no nonsense attitude, is not a career politician, his '9 9 9' tax plan makes perfect sense and he says what he thinks. Which is precisely why he doesn't have a snowballs chance of being elected. :(

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson in 'A Few Good Men' "People can't handle the truth." There are entirely too many people in this country who want nothing more than to have sunshine blown up their ass, patted on the head and told everything will be all right we'll take care of it. They prefer security over freedom, having their choices made for them (foolishly thinking they have choices) and generally being allowed to live their lives wrapped in a cocoon of indifference.

As an example, people will bitch about an increase in ATM fees, a bridge toll or the cost of food or gasoline, yet profess no knowledge of the crushing National Debt, our Import/Export trade imbalance or the multiplicity of government programs and burdensome regulations that infuse their daily lives.

Like it or not, this is the current state of things in this country. So keep looking for those unicorns flying overhead shitting rainbows.

Rick Perry is the next President.

He's not the best candidate but he's the next President. Its all over before it got started.

People dont wanna do the math homework and figure stuff out. If theyre prosperous and safe the guy in office stays in office.

Lincoln said it best: IF I DO BAD AND THINGS TURN OUT RIGHT, IT DOESNT MATTER; IF I DO RIGHT AND THINGS TURN OUT BAD, GOD AND ALL HIS ANGELS SWEARING I WAS CORRECT WONT SAVE ME.

If this was the election, this race would be decided by the House of Representatives. LOL. But it's early and this is just a non-binding poll.

As of now I like Cain but I can be influenced as time goes on. It might not sound right but as of now it's pretty much anyone but Obama. Just my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Political party doesn't mean much to me. I've never voted a straight ticket except for primaries, even then I've changed parties if I preferred a certain candidate.

Rick Perry is the next President.

If Perry gets elected, he will make Shrub look like a frickin genius.

The shit he has tried to pull and has pulled as governor here in Texas should be and is against all sanity and the law, in most cases.

It's too early to tell, and the primary election isn't for at least six months. I rather like Perry and Bachmann, but some of their ideas are too far out to suit me. I believe Romney has the best chance to defeat The Big O, which will be the deciding factor.

Maybe I will vote for Perneymann.

Sorry, I can't vote for anyone who thinks that the PATRIOT Act was constitutional, dodges questions about her pork-barrel spending back in Minnesota, and helps run, with her husband, a clinic to "cure" homosexuality (as if it's a disease or something).

That's not Taft Republicanism, which is what the party needs to resume.

I have visions of what Collie would say. My money says that she would vote for Karger.

Myself, I'm for Ron Paul, but have a great deal of respect for Karger's courage, Newt's intellect, and Cain's business experience and pragmatism.

Paul is simply the most consistent Taft-Goldwater-Dirksen Republican out there. He's the first guy I've been able to vote for without losing any sleep at night.

Would I vote for Romney, if he was nominated? Probably, but Paul is my first choice, followed by Cain, then Newt or Karger.

Bachmann vs. Obama is not a choice but a dilemma. Crazy homophobic fascist or incompetent Cook County crook out to bankrupt this country. Nothing to choose between them, to quote from the Dogs of War.

I'm all ears.

What you say may be true but its over for the rest of the field.

Romney is Humphrey trying to stop Carter in 76.

Humphrey did not try to stop Carter in 1976. Maybe you mean Ted Kennedy in 1980.

HHH had terminal cancer in 1976, and knew it, so he made no bid for the nomination.

I worked for Carter in 76. Humphrey was part of the Anybody But Carter (ABC) gang. I met John Glenn. We were the only people who showed up at a Carter event (it was cancelled and we didnt know!), and Glenn was a joy to be around.

If Perry wins the nomination, I predict he will choose Bachmann as a running mate. That would be a good fit in a number of ways.

No way. Bachman's toxic waste. Look for Perry to pick a black like Cain.

Mario Rubio is the media's flavor of the week but I dont see him jumping in.

You're right about Bachmann, but I hope that you're wrong about Perry. He's not what we need. We already had Bush and his arrogance, gaffes, and wars, not to mention violations of civil liberties.

Ron Paul is the best man for the job, bar none. Herman Cain is a close second. A Paul-Cain ticket would have some appeal, as would a Cain-Paul ticket.

i still wish we had term limits in congress and better yet the 'reject all' option!

If Perry secures the nom, he'll have to spin on a dime and start sucking up to independent centrists in order to win. He might even tap Huntsman. A token sane person on the ticket might be what he needs.

Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here… like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: "The Public Sucks. Fuck Hope."

George Carlin

We've nobody to blame except ourselves.
