Nude Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Welcome to the one and only official thread for the Nude Day Contest.

Have fun and use your ignore button if you have to. :D

Scabies, all these suggestions you make:

1) It’s time to dump the NUDE DAY theme! It’s tired and has used up its useful life. Time to move on to something new. Let’s have a Memorial Day Weekend contest. Or a NASCAR contest. Or a July 4th Weekend contest. Or a Gay Parade contest. Or a … well fuck you get the idea. Something original. A change. A challenge. Do we really need the darkboys and dumb texans of our world pulling out the same story every year and after dusting it off resubmitting it?

fit very nicely into the next theme contest, Summer Lovin'. :) Since this is a site for erotic tales from some authors and smut from the rest of us, stories and essays built around nudity fit quite nicely. :)

Thank you, by the way, for the Gay Pride Parade suggestion. I will probably write a story about it, one of many entries I will have, for the next theme contest.

Does it seem like the sweeps are getting more subtle?

There was a time when a sweep during a contest could be felt all across the collection, including old stories and ones not entered in the contests and the collections of those not entering the contests. Voting on mine during this contest--none entered in the contest--hasn't wavered the stats at all so far (in some cases I was rather hoping they would).

Did those of you who had contest entries and saw vote sweeping also see it on your noncontest collection?

I honestly didn't watch closely enough to know.

Hey, have the contest results been announced? I don't even know for sure where to find them. I want to extend congrats to the winners.

Thanks,
Dakota

Nope. I've only had one big sweep in the contest so far, and it stuck to my contest entry. My score got pushed back down as soon as it happened, and those votes haven't been swept away. I noticed a bizarre one-bomb a few days ago on a chapter that posted in April. It wasn't there when I submitted my contest story so I have no idea how long it's been there, but it hasn't been swept; it will be interesting to see how long that takes to go away, if ever.

There hasn't been a really big contest sweep yet. For the most part, what I believe we're seeing is a targeted sweep, most likely against the "usual suspects" that come out in every contest, casting votes with such obvious patterns that they may as well never cast a vote, because it will never stick.

I would suspect that the first real sweep may roll through some time today. That's where we'll probably start seeing major vote drops, and ripples hitting stories across the board.

Subtle and quiet - teasing and preparing us for the Hoover's major suck, probably last minute.

DARK: Having you been keeping track of this one? Or experimenting with your new system?

Just wanted to take a moment to send healing energy and prayers out across the waves to those affected by the recent and senseless tragedies. May those souls find peace, and comfort come to those they abruptly left behind. Extending prayers outward to the turmoil and chaos felt and suffered elsewhere, always.

Dakota, not yet. We're all waiting for the inevitable final sweep and then the winners are usually announced shortly after. You can find winners post on Literotica's front page and also the Contest page itself, and of course someone will post here as well.

I'm still thinking about your incredible story!

Haven't been doing full tracking. I've only been experimenting with automation and checking a few stories here and there for the usual patterns I've come across over the years.

I'm considering doing a quick H-only track, as I've done before, only keeping up with stories that manage 4.5 at some point during the track. Depends upon what's on T.V. and whether the stories I'm working on are moving this weekend *laugh*

Luna, hey, thanks for the info. I had been checking several areas of the site, periodically and thought I'd missed it. First contest.

And thank you so much for your kind comments on my entry. I really enjoyed your story, too!

Good luck to you and all the writers. IMHO, there are several good submissions in this contest.

Contest is basically over. I would have thought that any major seeps are finished. Winners are suppose to announced today. A little surprised they aren't out yet.
Congrat's to the winners whom ever they are.

Oh, I'll be damned -- it is today. For some reason, I had it in my head that it was Monday.

There's still one certain sweep left -- the last one.

Considering the low percentage of swept votes that I've observed in my few random checks, I would suspect that this final sweep will be a real bone-cutter.

EDIT: Went ahead and did a quick track, just listing stories that were in the 4.30 range and above that I thought might survive sweeps or have the potential to rise high enough to be in the running. Entirely subjective :p

Couldn't get vote totals for everything ( must have fallen off the 30 day list, didn't check dates ) but grabbed everything else I usually do. The lack of vote totals will muddy up the ranking on stories with the same score, but oh well.

I'll post them ( probably in the thread, since it's just a one day track and not really worth adding to my stats page ) once the announcement is made. I would guess that the contest is actually over, and only votes cast prior to today will count, but I'm not taking chances on posting stats to give the trolls easy targets ( Unlike other jerks who are doing so for EXACTLY that purpose )

Caught a few finger slips here and there while typing in numbers ( mostly favs and PCs ) so apologies if I messed any of those up. Just doing a speed track, so I'm not killing myself double-checking all the numbers outside of score.

Unless something unusual happens, Jeanne D'Artois won't have the minimum 25 votes. She should have submitted her story earlier (and perhaps included some sex!).

My story has remained in the 3.xx range throughout despite losing about 15% of votes cast.

There's always the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest except that both of us are ineligible.

I don't believe you would win the Last Place (tm) prize anyhow. I have one with ten votes and a score of 3.70. A while ago it lost one vote.

I guess our English know-it-all somehow hasn’t heard of LITEROTICA’S #1 thread : The SCOURIES reader – for fans and serious scholars. You have to get off your knees and your nose out of the REGAL derriere my friend and take a look around. You just might discover that we’re not all living in merry olde England in the middle ages…

And it sounds like the LITEROTICA reading public has passed judgment on your work.

Winners will be announced on: July 23

No winners announced yet - it looks like the vote fixing is taking a little more time than normal …

I have one with ten votes and a score of 3.70 … I will probably write a story about it, one of many entries I will have, for the next theme contest

And I’m sure your 10 readers will love it. What’s going to happen to you people when they raise the vote minimum required to 200?

Boxy vs little ralphie?

I love it! A SURVIVALIST showdown in the Summer Luvin Contest.

little ralphie vs. the boxman

Unedited 800 word story vs unedited 800 word story.

Who can write the most stories with a rating under 3.50?

little ralphie's been at it all year so it's hard not to favor him but you never know. boxy just might surprise us. Get to work man - I'd guess you're going to need about 22 stories submitted to have a chance...

And what the hell - maybe we could get our survivalist cook the famed bakeboss to participate. Although it will be a little tougher for him - he generally writes longer stories and he has them edited. But i know the princess could give you guys a run for your money if she put her mind to it. And what about betty boop?

You know, if you SURVIVALISTS put your minds to it i'm sure the SUMMER LUVING contest could end up with at least 150 entries - and not one from one of the TOP 40 MOST FAVORITE. Wouldn't that be a delight for our readers?

The sweep this morning was across my whole list of stories which probably means the same idiot bombed everything as usual.

The big HOOVER has yet to run as far as I can tell. Like someone said this looked more like a targeted sweep. Known suspects as it were.

I got hit bad on my vote count, but Hoover left an H on my doorstep.

Wow, the dancing monkey sure has a lot to say about a contest he didn't even enter. Hope his head doesn't implode.

Did anyone else see Laurel's sticky today?

Laurel on the Nude Day Contest Thread:

Hi everyone!

We're still tallying the contest votes. It's taking a little longer than expected, but we are working hard to get the results to you as soon as possible.

Good luck to all participating authors!

Good to know. Thanks for the update, Laurel! Some of us have been wondering. :rose:

It has happened from time to time. With just the two of them running things, time can be a little slippery. :D

I can imagine! Someone on another thread mentioned that one or both might have been on vacation. I've only paid more attention to the way things happen in the last couple of contests. :)

The Hoover upped my vote a bit. I'm far from either end - not in the running but not up for Ogg's prize either (one of these days!) Actually the joy is in the writing and correspondence with readers and writers and again definitely that was a very winning experience!

This one was a lot of fun as it was great having slave_ so involved in the inception of the story and the editing. A huge blast! Very much looking forward to the same in the summer contest.

And as usual reading the banter here was hysterical and the stories were overall such great reading.

Good luck to all the contenders!
