...for reaching the finals of the women soccer world championship (while Germany is out), thanks to the hottest soccer mom of all, Mrs. Hope Solo !!

We look in double envy to you.

Thanks for the tip. Fixed it.

(Strangely, I saw these pictures by linking....)

Semi so far, not finals. Pretty schweet anyway. France next.

Abby Wambach (again) leads Team USA to victory.

On a corner kick from the right, Lauren Cheney (12) places it perfectly and Wambach (20), rushing in from the top left of the penalty box gets well above the French defenders to head in the game winning goal. A classic football set-play, executed to perfection.

(That's soccer to you ex-colonials...)

Good luck to Team USA as they go up against Team Japan in the championship game to be played this Sunday.

It has been truly fun and interesting to watch.

What has been amazing to me is the lack of coverage and response in the U.S. (Unlike with the Mens Cup.)

We get coverage here in L.A. but soccer is really big in schools and with kids and since kids grow up, they want to follow the game. Of course, having a really big immigrant population helps, too.

And now congratulations Japan

Japan win the final on penalties after probably their least impressive game, but no one can doubt their tenacity. :)

True, Japan was right there to take the game the US gave away.
