Ridiculous and destructive copyright legislation which rapes and eviscerates the rights and civil liberties of Americans all in the name of maximizing the profits of monopolized entertainment conglomerates, is right around the corner! Get ready for Chinese-style control and censorship of the American internet! Get ready to be charged with a felony offense for merely LINKING to online material which is found to infringe upon copyrights, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Get ready for the strict stifling of free and easy access to information, even educational material!

This law will make virtually everyone who uses the internet a criminal! Get ready for the government-sponsored shutdown of hundreds of thousands or even millions of websites! Get ready to have your online privacy completely removed! Soon it could even become a felony to simply sing or hum music aloud in public, especially if it's being recorded.

First it was security goons putting their hands down your pants at airports and forcing you through a machine which exhibits your naked body, then it was a soviet-style "internal passport system" where thousands of innocent people are crudely searched and interrogated on their way to work, without probable cause. But with this new law, The Fascist States of Amerika has hit an entirely new low. I guess it is safe to assume that this country is ran wholly and entirely by powerful corporations which intend to slowly undo the principles freedom, democracy, and human prosperity, so they can line their greedy and bottomless pockets with hundreds of trillions of dollars, at the dire detriment to the entire populace.

Sounds like a "Police State' to me.

Sounds like a "Police State' to me.

That statement is 100% correct and on the money! Soon Americans will move to other countries and continents seeking freedom, privacy, and prosperity from what is quickly becoming a repressive, totalitarian state.

One day, the United States will utterly collapse and become an impoverished, third-world country. While today's third and second-world countries will rise to become the most powerful, industrialized, and prominent nations on Earth.

America is drowning in it's own festering cesspool of greed and corruption. I guess that's what happens whenever large corporations are given total control over a government, and then seek to undo the rights and freedoms of the general populace in order line their pockets with billions of dollars.

All it says is that Google can't link to pirate sites. And if they do either by accident or on purpose, they must stop doing it. Saying that search engines can't aid in theft doesn't mean we life in a police state. It means we live in a state that takes action against thievery and other crimes.

The Chinese part you're just pulling out of your ass.

Here are a few statements and questions.

*What defines a "pirate site?"

*Under this law, if someone embeds copyrighted music into their youtube video, they are guilty of a felony crime! And if someone merely LINKS to that video, they are also committing a felony. Also, if you post a youtube video on your facebook page to show friends funny video, you are committing a felony!

*I don't see how it is politically possible to police this law. Hundreds of millions of people post, and link to infringing material every single day. How can they possibly criminally prosecute that many people? This is why the recording industry went after website owners, instead of the countless downloaders and file sharers (because there were simply too many to take legal action against).

*This law makes karaoke a felony crime. Singing a song at a bar or any place for that matter, is a serious crime! Especially if the song is being recorded somehow. Also, that same logic could apply to simply singing or humming a song to yourself!!!!

*Virtually every single person who uses the internet will be a criminal, according to this bill.

*This appalling legislature is another flooring example of the merger of corporate and state power. And how the government is removing the freedom and civil liberties of all people, in order to appease business interests.

*Almost every single bill presented to congress is written up by lobby groups. The corrupt politicians are then bribed sometimes millions of dollars to vote in favor of that bill.
