Yale suspends Bush's Fraternity

College boys saying sexist things? who would have thunk it.

I think the womens league on that particular campus has too much swing with the Disciplinary Committee.

So what? I don't see how Bush can be attached to this.

I think, from the article, that they are just noting that both GHW Bush and GW Bush were members of that fraternity. I saw nothing that tried to link them with this particular incident.

And yes, frats say sexist things. I think what gets me is that it wasn't too long ago that another frat (forget which one) had a similar thing. They had their pledges chanting "No means yes, yes means anal!" I'm not sure what the punishment was there.

I don't know that I'd agree the entire house should be booted off campus, but I do think the people who thought this up and the pledges who cooperated should have some kind of reprimand or punishment, especially if what they did violates a university or frat code.

And this would be one other reason I was never interested in the frat/sorority life while I was in college, although I did know some nice frat guys.

Not really referring to the article itself, but to the slant/provocative nature of the Lit. posting.

Can't really complain much about the heavy biased/misleading posts of the Zebs/Amis/Boxlickers if it's being done from the other side too.

Well, the original post was just titled "Yale suspends Bush's fraternity," which implies a few things but isn't entirely untrue. It does tend to read like Bush owns/runs the thing, which of course he doesn't. But yes, slanting can come from both sides.

Still, it was just a stupid thing to do but then college students do stupid things.

Privileged brats repeating the sexist shit their wealthy arrogant "Boy's club" fathers have been feeding them since they were kids. Women are second class citizens.

these "men" are what I warn my daughters about on an almost daily basis. Proof that money does not by class but it buys the right to be a prick. Personally I'd rather see my daughter date a kid from a community college who knows what it's like to work for a living and whose father is probably decent to his mother.

In Bush's defense it was like that before him and always will be.

BTW I could be wrong here-I just don;t like to google things I try to rely on memory- Isn't Yale the college with that poser "Skull and bones" club? The secret group that everyone knows about? Dumb ass rich kids.

Thanks. So for the record I would think your favorite Ivy league school would be my own local Brown University. After all they have the "bears" for their sports teams.

As a native Californian, most of our University campuses have a bear in their mascot-ry somewhere. Berkely is the Golden Bears, UCLA the Bruins, Riverside (alma mater) the Highlanders . . .

But I appreciate the thought.

Well since you brought it up, an argument can be made for operant conditioning here - and presumably, as alumni, both Bush's still have some interests here, they're probably on a board or something, don't you think?

Not surprisingly, Bush is still active in the fraternity and they they follow him, being one of their more illustrious alumni, and a role model.

"He was part of a rather prominent frat, Delta Kappa Epsilon," Chung said. "They party a lot. They still do."

Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity news

So your argument, at best, is that Bush take no more interest in the proper education of the next generation of leadership than he does in economics, or anything but baseball and pinball.

I can almost buy that argument.

Scared to actually check it out, are you? Innuendo is so much easier.

Check what out? I don't really care, All I said was it was Bush's former fraternity, all other fraternities I know of, Alumni have some influence, official or otherwise, don't see why this is any different.

I don't have a fraternity, but if I did and if it was my fraternity, I'd feel a certain amount of accountability, you wouldn't?

George Bush pere and fils=evil. Members of same frat=frat evil. Frat suspended for politically incorrect behavior=pere and fils' fault:ie, guilt by association.

See how easy it is to connect the dots.

And for that reason alone you'd think he'd be concerned, no?

No, GW pure as the driven snow, an example for all mankind - I have to avert my eyes from shame, purity and holiness rolls off his monkey brow in waves.

Happy?

If I wanted to start a flame war, I'd have linked to all that Jeff Gannon/Bohemian Grove business.

Now that is a insinuation, this is just an anecdotal supposition on why GW might be less than enthusiastic about women's causes.

Don't bother arguing with SR he is a conformist people like Bush are his heroes and fraternities like that are his role models. Perfect little assholes raised by perfect little assholes who can do no wrong.'

It takes balls to call out the privelaged. You are dealing with someone who lost his somewhere along the line and spends his time yessing authority to death like a bobblehead.

Thing is fraternities like that are all about tradition so the question is did Bush do it too and does he condone it? I think we both know the answer there.

If you want to call George Bush an asshole, take a number and wait your turn. If you want to present more evidence of his assholeishness, there is a dead horse in the Dean Wormer's office. You can beat it to your heart's content.

This fraternity is going to do what all fraternities do when they get in a jam. There will be a meeting, where the fraternity bylaws are examined. Rule #17, which states, "What happens in the house, stays in the house." will be amended to add, "for real, this time, okay".

If one wants to instill respect for women in a fraternity boy, the process will have to start before rush week.

I don't make the news B, I just report it.

Frat rats and gangsta's pretty much Two peas in a pod if you ask me, I can't usually tell the difference - the former just end up in prison a lot less often.

The big difference is when confronted gangstas will fight. Frat boys will cry and plead while they bleed. Just something I noticed growing up an inner city kid who used to go to the bars around the local colleges to hustle the little Bush Juniors in pool.

Respect for women is instilled when a child is still a child and is a combination of having a father who respects the mother and a mother that demands respect.

I was pumping gas this morning and it was raining. (as usual day 8 of 9 here in RI) and a nice mustang pulls up next to me driven by a kid that you know just had this car given to him.

It is pouring rain mind you and the kid stays in the car while his GIRLFRIEND gets out in the rain and pumps the gas. The stud stays in the car playing with his phone.

Now who is at fault here? The kid for being such an ignorant ahole (frat boy) or the girl for having such low self esteem she thinks she needs this prick and doesn't deserve to be treated better.

Answer? His asshole parents and her parents as well.

Unable to resist i walked over to Mr bigshot, got him to roll his window down and told him his daddy must be so proud of the man he raised. I looked at the girl and told her she was way to pretty of a girl and she could do better than this prick.

Just in case you are wondering Mr. Stud stayed in the car because apparently my 5'7" 170 pounds was too intimidating for him.

This is the curse of having daughters. If I had a son my worry would be raisinga respectful one now I have to deal with every punk whose ahole father doesn't give a shit what he does.

Also as an aside my daugher is not allowed to date frat boys while she lives with me. If she does not like that rule she can go live with her mother. So far there ahsd been no issues.
