Hi all, I'm one of the newbies! *waves*

I would generally go to the beginning of the thread and read through to get a general gist of things... but this is one long thread!

Suffice to say I think I'll just have to pick things up over the coming months. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all ;)

Hmm, I'm thinking what I should do is at least go and read the first post and see if there's a usual first post introductiony type thing I should be doing.

Back shortly.

Welcome. Always good to see some new Aussies about.

Relax, have fun and enjoy yourself. They are the main points to remember really.

Holy shit, this is a long thread. I wonder if I posted here before....

Eh, oh well. Hi guys and gals!

Thanks Dormant.

Well, the beginning of the thread was enlightening! Some things never change. Convo about State of Origin... which is coming up real, real soon.

Let me state for the record that I have very little interest in sports in general but for the purposes of Origin, I'm a maroon. Now that we've got that out of the way...

I'm the same with sports really, and even worse than you since I can't say I watch Origin. Bad me I know.

I have a question that I hope you guys can help me with. It's just to do with the mechanics of the site. I was once involved in a site (non-sexual) that had an incredibly similar layout and way of functioning, but as soon as you posted in a thread, you were subscribed to it. Then, when you next came on, you could check those threads from your control panel without having to actually remember everywhere you posted.

Have I missed something somewhere along the way? Or do I actually have to manually subscribe to each thread I want to follow? I should probably check the FAQ's but since it was so similar in other respects I assumed that this function was the same.

Manual subscription required.

I always thought you automatically subscribed as long as you posted there.

Try Thread Tools at the top of the forum page (posts) and see if it says anything helpful.

Edit: Apparently my fingers are busier than I knew, manual subscribing it is. Huh.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I found out before I'd posted too far and wide. I'll have to try and remember where I've been now.

Quote from Options in Control Panel:
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

If you look at "Additional Options" at the bottom of the reply to thread page, you will see a drop down box which says "Thread Subscription". I have mine set to "No email notification" which means I'm automatically subscribed to any thread I reply to. I believe the default says "Do not subscribe".

Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone, from a totally debauched aussie :D
there's loads to learn, loads to see, and loads to talk about here on the Aussies thread.
Welcome all

Hello all!

Looks like this thread is busier than usual - good to see.

Glad that the weekend is finally here...it's been a long, busy, but good week. I'm starting it off by going to a wine tasting at my friends place down the road. I hope everyone has a great, safe start to their weekend.

Thanks Bandit, that sounds exactly like what I was looking for.

Last time I went camping I was ridiculed as I had to sit and put on my body lotions, moisturise and oil my hair. I also sooked until they rigged up a half drum and put it over a fire. I had a lovely hot bath under the stars and a full moon. So so not a camper.

Alwasy hesitant about using the kettles after stories from Army lads one night, years ago. Ewwwww.....can't even say what they used to do. Ex sister-outlaw used to do Housemaiding in some pretty fine hotels, the stories she told make me so winky about using things in Hotels.

The last one I stayed in was 4.5 stars, lovely. Except that it had no airconditioning. Large opening windows, yes. But no airconditioning. They brought a standing fan in for you on warmer days.

As for the warm air....you not into a little ice then Elfie? Hmm pity. Nothing like a little triller chiller.

Ms Moon ,

Well if you had put on all those lotions and oils I reckon half the day would of gone. I suppose getting up at the crack of dawn would of been totally out as well. One thing I will say for being in the country, the city is quieter. Then you keep listening for every new sound. The funniest advice I ever saw was in a pamphlet for people going camping in one of the Canadian national parks. The pamphlet went to calming say.."if you get up in the morning and see bear prints near your campsite you should determine what type of bear it is". It then goes on to show you the two most typical bear prints. If I found bear prints outside my tent, the last fucking thing I would be doing is hanging around to compare them with the documentation.

You staying in a 4 1/2 star hotel with no air con? You sure they just didn't paint on the stars themselves? Then again if it was way up north I can understand, those room air cons are useless.

I perfer ice cubes either on a woman's nipple or in a glass with a single malt scotch. Mind you combining all three together isn't bad either

We have found that Vicks on the soles of the feet then socks as you get into bed works wonders although a damn good hand wash is required & of course all females benifit from a long chest rubbing is always a benifit to you & it is a sacrifice I am willing to take any time only to assist the female.:D

Like it says..."in sickness and in health"....blokes still think of sex

Well I shall just cross my fingers that life is kind and I get to have a coffee with the both of you.

It's pathetic that the Ekka ground is being sold off. It should remain public and community space.

The leg is not so good still. Damn feeling like I'm 80 instead of $%....ah, like I'd tell it here. I have an appointment with a specialist next Monday, so will see what he has to say. I do think it will be an operation to clean it all out, worse case (though at least for the first time in over 28 years or so, I should be able to walk, run and do the splits again..) I am thinking a knee replacement op. But, as I said, we shall see what he says first.

Good thing is that I do maintain a little flexibility  Can still touch the headboard behind me with my toes....;) Oh, so shouldn't say that, but couldn't resist. Not ladylike in the least to say such crass things.

It's a gorgeous Autumn day here, Sun, not too cold. This is the when I almost can live in Brisbane. Sighs....but summer will be sweating over us again before long.

Hope the cold is getting better that you and Bandit have been suffering from. Just got over a chest infection from sinus. Good heavens, if it's not one it's the other.

Hello John, ltns. Enjoying the weather are you?

Take care and keep warm E/everyone.

:kiss:MsMoon:kiss:

Lets see 80 subtract 28, subtract age when able to do splits...can still touch head board with toes, assuming face up add factorial, integrate area below curve....= 46yrs old

You know how you have those days where you just wish there was endless amusement and things that could keep you occupied, and yet you could hear a cricket chirping all day?

Today was that day.

I am soooo bored.

lol

Dormant, for the love of God, please tell me you fixed your boredom problem with tonight's Doctor Who. If you didn't, you have got to check it out on iView ASAP, because... I had the hugest, HUGEST lump in my throat at the end.

I've never been fond of Neil Gaiman's work before. Now, I want to have that man's kids.

Anyone else catch it?
