so...need good recommendations for anime on netflix? never really watched any..ever. So beginner. I watched 3 episodes of sekirei--cheesy. but did enjoy the boobs, but really cheesy and disjointed. enjoyable but 5 out of 10. What's better? similar? with boobs? Good story though. What is good anime?

What kinds of shows do you like and watch? It's hard to reccomend anime without knowing what kinds of stuff you like. I could make broad sweeping ones, or a few classics but really it's like asking for live action recommendations.

Yeah there's a huge range of anime - giant robot war, epic fantasy war, detective stories and serial killer stories, modern highschool romance, 'dirty' humor similar to South Park and The Simpsons, martial arts ranging from romantic comedy to epic war, aliens on earth comedies similar to Alf and Mork And Mindy, teens marooned on an uninhabited planet in a cross between Gilligan's Island and Lord of the Flies, fastest gun in the future wild west...

These are must-see for anime's

Family Oriented:
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Metropolis / Metoroporisu

Action:
Ghost in a Shell-- lots of nudity ;)
Akira
Ninja Scroll

Series:
Neon Genesis Evangelion - lost of sexual innuendos

Start with these

How about using sekirei as a starting point then. Fantasy, violence, boobs, adventure

Thanks mate!

The ones with nudity and/or sex are just plain weird. If you want to see bits or fucking, why not watch porn?

I disagree with that. Porn always has shitty stories, and rarely any good costumes or special effects or anything that make visual entertainment actually entertaining. Give me my sex in the context of a real story any day. And you'll find that the legions of women (and even a few men) who read romance novels will agree with me.

So, recommendations. I'm a straight woman so I don't generally pay attention to what has boobs and what doesn't. But Sorcerer Hunters is a classic fantasy/combat/humor series with a lot of sexual humor, and the two female main characters have a transformations sequence which puts them in dominatrix gear. Ranma 1/2 is another classic - a martial arts comedy series with sexual and romantic humor. It's a bit more tame though, largely because the main character takes an anti-sexual attitude. Maze: The Megaburst Space is another fantasy combat series with sexual humor and some comedy; it has a bit of an incest theme, just so you're warned. Trouble Chocolate is more pure goofy humor, but it has a similar set-up, with a human teen suddenly acquiring a curvy friendly nonhuman female. Chobits also has this theme, as does Urusei Yatsura (that one's really old though, the animation style is a bit primitive).

You Madam, are a classic otaku.

I commend you.

Oh yeah, and:

1. Dragonaut: the Resonance
2. Witchblade
3. Queen's Blade
4. Godannar
5. Daphne in the Brilliant Blue
6. Rin: Daughter's of Mnemosyne
7. Tenjho Tenge ( also spelled Tenjou)

( the names of the images)

I don't see how the desire for sex in the context of a story, one that is arrived at via the interactions of characters borne from the tip of one's pencil, can be termed 'real'. It's just not for me, but to each their own.

"real story" as in a well structured and developed emotionally involving story; as opposed to "paper thin excuse for a story found in porn" That's fine if it's not for you, but don't go around telling others that what they like is weird.

If you can't tolerate opinions that differ from yours - and mine is a personal opinion and nothing more - then ask yourself what you're doing on an adult board because you clearly aren't one.

Should you decide to re-read my original statement, you'll see that I said I found the material weird and not the people who view them. What adults do and what they're into is their business alone.

My definition of being adult includes being polite. Giving an unsolicited negative opinion about something another person has just said they like is always rude. I sometimes think, though, that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" is a concept our society forgot some time in the past decade or two.

Thanks for the great tips everyone! It is much appreciated. I have some great starting points here! You all rock!

It only took me reading back seven posts of yours to see that you don't practice what you preach. In the future, please leave your insecurities out of our discourse.

This! :)

Agreed, but there's usually a story though. As opposed to regular porn where there's very rarely any kind of story beyond "oh yeah let's fuck".

I've been watching a few Satoshi Kon directed anime lately - Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, Paprika, Paranoia Agent. I've enjoyed all of them so far, if you enjoy anime with more mature (not necessarily in the 'sexy' sense) themes, give his work a try.

Anything by Satoshi Khan is great but only if you're in the mood for it. Also Bible Black's story is just fine!

Death Note. If you watch nothing else watch Death Note. I'd recomment Naruto as well but it might be best to start with Shippuden and then backtrack to Naruto simply because the Title charachter is annoying but it ultimately doesn't detract from the quality of the series.

I have watched all of his stuff already. ^-^" ← My job is to watch & review anime (FOR MONIES!!! lol)

So, Anime (and Hentai >.>") is something I have very high knowledge in. But by all means, sooooo not an Otaku! >.<"

But I won't deny, Hentai usually do have stories, but I have yet to have one that has held onto my interest long enough. The closest is probably...Bible Black. -___-"

But everyone on Lit knows I'm the go-to person for Anime/Manhwa shit. :p

*sits on Sean's head*

It's "Kon", darling. :p

I liked Death Note, but nothing beyond the anime/ 12 books.

And I really can't stand Naruto anything. I rather watch BLEACH ( and even then, that's a stretch).

Sorry if I missed someone saying this earlier, but my fav's include (although there is little/no nudity and sex...)

Rurouni Kenshin, which is only available by DVD on netflix...

and Ranma 1/2, because it makes me laugh.

Don't get me wrong, I've thoroughly enjoyed a wide variety of other anime, such as Rin and Ghost in the Shell, both of which Netflix streams, at least in the USA.

His name is whatever I tell him his name is. And Naruto when all is said and done is MUCH better than Bleach. Or the story of how Super God went evil and did a lot of evil stuff mostly because he woke up one morning bored. He could easily have raped everybody everywhere all at the same time however he thought it would be funnier to see them kill themselves.

Naruto particularly once you get into Shippuden and the Pain Saga is an outstanding and deep story about war and hatred and what it does to people and countries.

I liked the live action Death Notes too. In a rare case for me I like the manga better than the anime if for no other reason than it takes the extra second to hold me by the hand when it's explaining some of the bullshit. That whole Ryuk let me hold your book, now take her book, now she'll hold mine, now give me hers, now take her memory, now give it back. In the anime I stopped trying to understand and simply accepted that Light was smarter than me.
