Anyone tried a pair? They're the latest trend in exercise and footgear!

They're not going to win any fashion awards, that's for sure! Though one does wonder if there's some interesting fetish plot bunny in this. How would the shoe/foot fetish folk feel about these?

Well first off on the shoes themselves My company built the counter top point of purchase display fro these guys and we all got a couple of pairs for free. The yfeel really weird and maybe for climbing might be okay but for running there is no real; supprt if you have any ankle or knee issues.

If you run in them long enough you will develop the above issues I am sure.

Now on the plot bunny? Well admittedly I have a foot fetish and these are the un-sexiest things next to work boots a woman could put on her feet. Now for regular sex they could provide some good traction on walls for some adventurous positions but that would be it.

Dave Letterman tried to walk across the stage in a pair one night. He didn't make it.

I admit this might take things off topic, but there is a debate among runners about whether shoes are good or bad for running. I think the claim is that shoes allow you to land on your heel, which isn't great for running and injuries. I'd imagine that barefoot runners might like the lack of support in these, but I'll stick with my New Balance, thanks.

I despise these, more than I despise crocs and uggs (which is saying something). They remind me of beach shoes that people wear, or socks with individual toes. Blech. And the blue pair is just... wrong.

I might throw darts at people's toes if I see these out and about this summer.

Wow you know that is another point; summer. Okay let me tell you this I am not much of a runner these days as my right knee has some issues(irregular cartilage) so when I tried these out it was sparring at the dojo I figured why not? didn't like how they felt at all and let me tell you my feet were sweating like crazy. The thought of someone wearing these for hours in the heat? Ugh so much for the foot plot bunny!

Another point you brought up was "uggs" I will put them on the list with these and work boots as nothing sexy about them.

So do you throw darts or was that just an expression you use?

Yeah, the sweat. I'd develop major blisters from running in those. And pruney toes. Gross.

No, I don't throw darts, but I watched Gangs of New York yesterday and I'm afraid Bill the Butcher's throwing skills may have left an impression on me--those little tootsies now look like perfect targets for a wayward dart or knife.

EDIT: 3113, to get to your question about fetishes, I don't have a foot fetish, but I have a major... thing for distance runners/triathletes. And these shoes would pretty much ruin that.

Tell us how you really feel, Tatyana! ;)

Supposedly running in those things requires that you learn a different way of running and walking. The proposed idea is that they allow you to run barefoot without injuring the soles of your feet. I think they all the shoe companies to sell you shoes even though you like running barefoot!

And they only work of your legs are the same length. Since my left is 3/4" short I have to have lifts in all my pairs of shoes and I can't imagine that putting lifts in those would be desirable.

I'll pass.

I have several friends who say they took time to get used to but once that was done they love them.

I want to try a pair, but it is not in the budget right now.

that's why i run on my toes, even when in shoes.

and you're right. i don't really like crocs and uggs either and these are definitely worse. burn them! lol

Perhaps the main reason I wear shoes is that if there's anything to stub my frickin' pinkies on, I will find a way to do it. Those abominations wouldn't help.

I might try a pair. They look like surf shoes with toes. I'd be curious to see how thick the sole is and whether they'd hold up against coral...or broken glass.

:p Coward! ;)

I wear the Injinji toesocks with regular athletic shoes in the summertime. Having each little piggy wrapped in Coolmax is more comfortable as any other sock/shoe combo I've tried.
Your mileage may vary.

Barefoot shoes? Meh, I'll just do what I do now. Go barefoot.

i love my vibrams! yes, there is a learning curve with them. it's a totaly different way of running. you do NOT land on your heel. that's where most injuries occur. that is a very unnatural way of running, and the majority of injuries with these shoes are when people run the same old way that used to. i'm reading the book that started he resurgence of barefoot running, and i love it.

you'll never get my vibrams from me!

Curious minds want to know: do you get blisters (and, are you blister-prone in general)? Have you trail run in them (or run on gravel)? Do your feet get uncomfortably sweaty? If you had consistent injuries before, have then stopped?

On the subject of injuries occurring because you land on your heel, my impression is that the research seems to be mixed (see here). (for the record, I've done my share of track workouts barefoot, but didn't really love it.)

And I hope you don't wear them out of the house on non-running occasions. Otherwise, you might find vixenfury behind you with some matches. Or me with some darts. :p

Well, obviously, to protect my feet and myself, I will just keep up with regular ol' sneakers. ;) I exercise barefoot, but because I use a Wii Fit. Never been much on running, but kudos to those of you who do.
