Been To The Grocery Store Lately?

why is what the food industry decides to charge down to Obama?

And I always figure that phony packaging stuff was just another way for big business to increase profits while decreasing product.

it isn't, but don't tell vette.

also, try not to tell him that they've been doing the shrinking package thing for years. he won't understand.

I suspect a shrinking package is not just a problem for him when it comes to food.

And the corn into ethanol thing is fuck all to do with the green movement, it's the fault of the massively powerful corn producers and their expensive lobbyists. But don't let facts get in the way of your latest RW bullshit c+p.

Get your facts straight, the farmer is the last to profit. The middleman hikes the prices.

Yep, for about two decades now. And vette already lost this argument a few months back. Senility is a bitch.

Most corn producers in the US are massive conglomerates. The myth of the family owned farm hasn't been true for half a century or more.

There is still plenty of family farms around, at least in Indiana.

The world's two largest grain companies are now one. The wave of mergers that has changed the face of the American economy in Clinton time is also engulfing the food industry. On July 9, 1999 Cargill Inc., the nation's largest privately held company, won approval from the Clinton administration to acquire the grain-trading operations of its primary rival, Continental Grain Inc. The approval came over the objections of attorney general offices from farm states, the Farmers Union, consumer and green groups, which charged that the union will create a near monopoly in the grain business. Combined, the two companies will control 94 per cent of the soybean and 53 per cent of the corn market. How can farmers get a fair price under these circumstances? Grain is not the only product where concentration is extreme. In the Midwest four companies control more than 40 per cent of the processing of each of the major farm commodities, lamb, beef, pork and chicken.

Its an Obama world wide conspiracy. Don't tell all yer sheep.

obama is simply the greatest supervillian ever. not only does he have an earthquake machine which he recently used in japan to distract everyone from the real issues, but now it seems he's mastered two-way time travel. i gotta admit that i'm more than a little impressed at his power. he's like fucking doctor doom without the vanity or the silly green cloak.

I totally buy into this. Alan Moore was right.

Families are smaller and people are watching their portion sizes more than before. They buy smaller packages. It's the free market.

Don't insult shoppers by implying that they don't notice the size differences.
