Wow, Fflow. That's really cool. Had to look at it three times before I got it. lol! I wonder what Rorschach would say about me.

:rose: Sue

It means something, but I'm not sure what. Some people cannot see the faces at all, some see only the faces, and some see both. (I'm in the 'both' category.)

For you, I'd say it indicates a tendency toward hotness, but there's an abundance of evidence of that already.

Ok, Sue... *Deep breath*

Here are three (3) versions of the image. I'm not sure if I know if there's one I like more. Maybe you can choose the one that appeals most to you:

Hey Fflow . . . . great job with Sue's pic. It was a tough challenge, to be sure. You've got great instincts for capturing the essence of things. I like all three iterations, but #2 is my fav. Makes her look like she'd melt in your mouth . . and, in fact, that's pretty much how it is. :D

I know she'll chime in later.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Dave

Thanks for the kind words, Dave. She's a lovely woman. Sorry you were stressed about the mysteriously missing negs. I'm sure they'll turn up sometime soon, when you least expect it.

Peace,

Here's a digital photograph that I was lucky enough to have in a jurored group art show some years ago. It has always been one of my favorite images:

All three were excellent.....of course....the pic of Sue was the most important

Have you successfully identified the subject of the photo?

I think the object around it is throwing me. I want to say part of a tree or branch that got stuck in a fence and was cut out...it also can be bread.. but then agian that object.. hmmm.. curious..

It is the trunk of a eucalyptus tree. It lives on the sidewalk, planted in a cut-out near a major road. Like many trees planted institutionally, it had wooden supports on either side, with rubber bands (almost like auto fan belts) used to keep it straight.

Unfortunately, the City never bothered to remove or otherwise adjust the bands, so the tree suffered an injury from them. The 'rose,' is part of that injury. If you follow the dark band that goes to the right of the rose, all that is part of the injury as well. It is dark red, thick sap that looks very much like blood. The original color photo was too disturbing and grizzly, so I made it b/w.

So, that entire 'ball' is a result of the injury, and you can see how the tree applied such great force to the strap that the nails were pulled from the support, and bent in the process.

I found the whole thing to be very moving, but also indicative of nature's strength and resilience. The tree grew, and did its tree business, and was not deterred by the obstacles we humans placed in its path. There's a lesson there for us, I think.

it's beauty is bittersweet.

Thank you Thank you!!

Awe! That's so kind and generous of you to say. Sometimes I'm not sure what direction to go in, but it really is just a form of play.

I decided to combine my interest in photo manipulation with macro photography and self-portraiture. Can anyone identify this bit of me?

hmmm... is it eyelashes on your cheek?

Interesting guess, Nawty! I'd love for you to recreate the image using that part of your body!

Still, while a very good guess, I am sad to say that isn't the part of me I photographed.

Here's a hint, though: It is one of the few parts of my body that are nearly always in view, both to me and others.

a little sketchy? ;)

Well, unless it's your eyebrow and glasses, Fflow, you've got me stumped and as far as recreating it goes, you've got me stumped there too.
I've tried dozens of filters and brushes and nothing has the textured look that looks anything like yours... I guess that's why they call you 'the best'!

I did have a lot of fun experimenting with all the different effects while I was trying to recreate your look though and spent far too much time playing...
Oh well! Who needs clean laundry or food in the fridge when you've got gimp to play with, right? :D
