Poet Guy is puzzled by this. Usually spam threads have links to off-site porn or merchandise sites, on the (probably mistaken) idea that someone will follow the link and purchase some inferior Chinese knock-off running shoes, just on the spur of the moment.

This is obviously more subtle, though Poet Guy cannot divine the purpose. A regular thread (in this case one by bogusagain) is cloned, but there are no obviously spam components to it. No links to junk sites, for example.

Is it a means of gathering User IDs? One would think a bot could simply sweep the forum for those.

Anyone have any ideas about this? They have picked on bogusagain, Tristesse2, twelveoone, probably others. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.

I am equally puzzled, although in first person.

I have never understood why people take this poetry thing so seriously.

I like the zipper line, but silken purses always remind me of sow's ears.

Should I be scared?

teknight was the other they hit, they hit the jd4george thread twice, the second time it had the junk links in it.
All of these came from the third page, except tess's thread.

Tess, be very afraid, they've come to steal your AV's and they replaced it with some crumpled thing and by tonight you'll look like bogusagain.

*confused. com*

am i the witchmaster general now?
my av 'as been swiped,
quick save Tess.......
arrghhhh
to late
the mirror crumpled

so in another thread, I read you have a happy life......:rose::devil::rose:

so.....

for poetry's sake...

oh noes!

dost this meaneth thou now tread these splint'ry boards incognito? an' doth those same knavish boards squeal sly protestation, alarums to decry thy presence?

*hand Tess a new mirror*

it ain't bad, matey, and has surely been far far worse

i hope that kiss was for free :D

Tess is so beautiful that no mirror much less an AV could represent her in relief.

They come back and edit them a few weeks later after the mod has forgotten about them.

It's genius, really, it is. I've had to watch out for the 'not immediately spammish' posts on forums before, because if you don't delete them... BAM. SPAM.
