Valentine's Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Two of my votes just disappeared! Now I only have 18 votes and aren't elligable anymore! How does it determine iffy votes? I can see it removing MY vote for myself (oh, come on, I had to see if it would let me) but what about the other one? D: I only lost .01 point, but now I no longer qualify! I see all you guys mentioning like... 7x votes and I'm like... yeah. And this is after I asked some Lit friends to check me out and vote. D:

I know I won't win, but still!

I also voted, and my vote is still there. Sci Fi & Fantasy gets relatively few votes but, in a contest, you should get enough to qualify.

Noira, after I read yours I'll vote too.

I've slowed down on the reading. My friend is visiting, but I've got her reading entries too (even though we can't both vote on my 'puter).

The day I even see 100 votes is a day of extreme celebration. I got as high as 98, back in the 05 holiday contest, but have barely hit the 50 vote mark since.

Shameless plug: http://www.literotica.com/s/whatever-you-wish

For me too, usually. A lot of my stuff doesn't have very high numbers.
Then sometimes this happens and I wonder where the hell they came from, lol. :)

P.S. I got swept, but only lost 6 votes. Hmm.

Oh, I know. I should've put it in lesbian instead. D: And some of my votes came from asking friends on the site to vote too! So really, I got the short end of the stick.

Next one, if my plans go as planned, will be BDSM... maybe.

What's funny is that after 5 of you guys voted (thanks, people!), my number hasn't changed. :D But I now have 23 votes! (I think it's funny that one of you guys had to justify that you don't read this category and only read it so that you could vote for me to qualify. Thanks, though!)

I didn't vote just now. I RCVed four days ago, and my vote has apparently not been swept. There would be no reason why it should have been.

I did see your comment when you initially posted it, and thanks for that!

A.I.R. VALENTINES DAY CONTEST 2011

On behalf of my boss and all of us associated with the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS I'd like to offer congrats to the OFFICIAL LITEROTICA winners (except for the cheaters).

I’d also like to post the VALENTINES DAY CONTEST winners as picked by the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS. These selections are not official LITEROTICA winners. Instead they were designed and financed with help from ScouriesWorld to reward stories that were the #1 choices of our readers.

Not surprisingly in a contest that is decided by the votes of our readers, the A.I.R. winners list for the VALENTINES DAY contest is dominated by some of LITEROTICA’S all-time greats (including LITEROTICA’S #1 Most Favorite).

We at A.I.R. would also like to send out our prayers to the lovely sarahhh. Get well hon!

The authors RALPHIE, theoggman, voluntarymonkey and bakeboss, all of whom continue to believe these special contests are SURVIVOR contests, were disqualified from consideration. Stories by other authors were disqualified for category problems, failure to follow the theme, or other major infractions.

All Non-Erotic stories were disqualified as well as the nineteen stories identified by our association computers as ALT stories.

Congratulations to our winners – well done! FYI: this is the first A.I.R. win for Slickman, Rehnquist, pepperpace, and xyster. It should also be noted that 4 out of the 5 winners are members of the 1000+ VOTE CLUB. Well done members!

Under the ASSOCIATIONS rules a story/author can only win one prize in any contest.

Even though we don't know who they are yet?

Official competition doesn't close until 12th Feb, so there AREN'T any winners quite yet.

Just keep swimming...just keep swimming

Don't try and figure it out, just move along and the REAL contest results will be announced sometime tomorrow.

By the way, hello you sexy Scot! ;)

Swimming... and stirring it too, ever so slightly!

I'll save scouries time by posting my reply to his Fake contest results here for everyone to see. It will be interesting to see how he tries to change it.

Grand_High_Poobah aka Gabby aka Gabrielle L. is one of scouries many alt.

Since there is no such thing as the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.) associated with or from Lit, except in scouries head, it can't sanction anything but Scouries usual hot air.

scouries makes up his own list of winners using stories he steals from the REAL Literotica contests. Scouries just copies the list from THE REAL CONTEST, minus the people he doesn't like. He uses his fudge factor, known only to him, and drops the categories he doesn't like. Instant winners. They don't really win anything since it's a fake contest held only in scouries mind. There are no real reader involved.

Just more of Scouries phony bullshit.

Does anyone know where to go to check the current voting results?

When they're ready, Laurel will announce them in one of the sticky threads above. They also will appear on the home page, and no doubt someone will quickly pick up on them and repost them on this thread.

Ok, thanks. From things I've seen previously, I thought you could could go and see the current tallies, as you can for the annual awards. I don't expect much, so waiting until tomorrow is no hardship.

You could track each story down on each author's page and chart scores that way. But at the end of a contest like this, they are subject to be changing radically from moment to moment by the action of the sweeper.

Oh, no, it's not worth that kind of effort. :) Thanks, though.

Now, see, they could post that info on the list of contest stories...right? Oh well, no matter.

That would encourage the trolls. The highest rated stories would be bombarded with 1 votes.

That already happens as soon as the winners are announced. The winning story is likely to lose its H within a couple of hours of the contest result.

Hello there! Fancy bumping into you. :D

Yes, but if they did that, folk stopping by the contest page might just read the ones that have already earned an H, widening the gap and making it harder for others to get votes and work up to an H.

Purely in the interests of being fair, of course. The fact my entry is currently on 4.49 has absolutely nothing to do with that stance. No siree!

Interesting. We took the same idea and developed it into completely polar opposite conclusions!

It's not a problem getting enough votes to get an H. Any contest entry that has been there a week or more should easily have ten or more votes, which is what it takes. The hard part is getting votes that average 4.50 or higher. Furthermore, most readers, if they even know what that little red letter stands for, don't care if it's there or not.

Trolls are comparable to vandals. If vandals see a nice clean wall, there's a good chance they will write all over it. They want their pointless destruction to accomplish something so, it a story has an H, or a high score, there's a good chance they will drop a one bomb just to wreck it. I don't know if it's envy or just meanness. :(
