Valentine's Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

The largest part of mine is actually stretched out through all of January ( if I finish the damn thing ) Valentine's Day is still an important plot point, which leads to the conclusion that happens on that day.

I'm waiting on mine to be edited. I had hoped to write more after the holidays were over. But, I had an eye injury. Up until yesterday I had a patch over it. Ouch! No major damage, but a bruised brow, lid, and white of my eye. Luckily nothing was torn. Now of course I'm overdoing it because I've missed out on a whole week of reading/writing/and generally seeing. *pouts*

I've missed this place!

You still have plenty of time. Entries are not accepted for another 12 days, and they don't close for 16 days after that. In other words, you have almost a month to get it written, edited and submitted. Of course, some stories will not attract enough votes to qualify if they are posted for too short a time.

Boxlicker,

Oh, I know I still have time. :) I'm not even sure I'm going to write another V-day one. I meant writing in general. I do have a new one to post and that was delayed a bit. I wonder if I should wait until after the contest or post it now before it opens. Hmm. Any thoughts from anyone? Thanks!

I've got an idea rolling around in my head...and other areas of my body. ;) So, I guess put on a playlist of all my sappiest music and get to writing. I've never submitted a story here before (just a few poems), and I don't expect to win anything. But, hey, I gotta pop my contest cherry somehow, eh?

SweetMerry,

Welcome to the contests! I for one can't wait to read your entry. Your poetry is poignant and sweeping and so raw. Wow! Goodluck :)

Wow, thanks. I appreciate the feedback on the poetry.

I'm at about 800 words on the story so far, and we've just met *him.* ;)

Didn't your mama warn you about meeting strange "Hims" ;) :D

Welcome to the madhouse. Another Texan is always welcome. There's a dozen or so of us floating around here in the AH.

Sure she did. Whether I listened or not is another story. ;)

And thanks for the welcome. I'm a transplant, but am enjoying the feel of Texan soil beneath my boots.

My first story is ready to go. Thinking of putting it in 'First time' catagory. it's over 11500 words. I hate this waiting part. Another ten days. 2nd one is at the editors. it's over 14,000 words. Geez, can't I write something shorter. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
Good luck to all that enter.

Short is for sissies and the younger crowd. ;)

Maybe it's just us wordy old men. :D

Speak for yourself. Why not try one of my fifteen x 50-word entries?

Og

Ogg, I can't do a grocery list in 50 words. :D

I need space for my brain to.... Well, whatever it does.... All that blank space just begs to be filled.

I for one like to get emotions flowing. To do so we need to know the characers in a story. It takes space for one to get to know the characters. I'm often told my stories are to short and the readers want to know more. I guess it's either to short or too long depending on the readers.

Ogg, I can gaurantee I can't write a story in fifty words. More power to those who can tell a good story with fewer words. I'm old, long-winded and an amature.

I do have somewhat of a following so I'm happy with that. The best to all and their short or long stories.
With respect
DG

I'm in a quandary. I have stories ready to post in nearly every category, only I don't know which stories to post first and in what order to post them. I find it more challenging to stretch myself to write stories in as many categories as I can.

I'm figuring I should post incest first and romance last and everything else in between.

I have a mother-in-law story, a sisters-in-law story, and a mother and son story.

I really like the two romance stories that I've written. I'm not a big romance writer, but Valentine's Day is perfect for a romance story.

I figure that I'll end up writing somewhere around 120,000 to 150,000 words, not bad considering the Winter contest ended not that long ago. The Valentine contest if a fun contest because there is so many things to write about.

If anyone needs suggestions, I have a few dozen of them. So many stories to write and never enough time.

Good luck to everyone in the contest. I hope we get a lot of stories to read.

Well Ralph, since you’re threatening to start your LITEROTICA writing career by inundating the LITEROTICA reading public and your fellow authors with twenty or thirty stories in the upcoming VALENTINES DAY contest I think it’s quite appropriate that your first offering should appear in the ANAL category.

We had hoped the good QUEEN :cattail: was going to change the rules for 2011 but after changing the dates of the ANNUAL AWARDS (and good for her for finally getting that done!) she was simply too tired to go on. Perhaps by next year?

Of course the “lackeys” around here (ogg, db, ace, retard boy, etc.) will defend the QUEEN’S inaction and your right to publish the ridiculous number of contest entries you’ve promised. They just can’t get the pucker off their lips when she’s in the vicinity.

But Ralph, of course there is another option. It’s one that demonstrates maturity. And goodwill towards your fellow authors. It shows class. It leaves room for every author to present his work to the reading public without being swamped by one authors ego.

Just pick one story to enter into the contest. Perhaps the one you’re proudest of. Or the one you think is best.

I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see what kind of man you are.

Has anyone tried to tell Scouries who "Ralph" is? :D

Sure, and right after that, I'll explain sub-atomic particle theory to my sister's cats.

You'll have much better luck with the cat. :D

Let me give it a try:

Hey scouries, I hate to be the one to told you, but Ralph is your one and only friend Freddie. He is also andtheend, the other one who posted all those stories in the last contests.

Oh wait, I'm on his ignore list. We'll have to wait for one of his alt to stop by before he even sees it.

I promise to enter only one story in the Valentine's contest...at a time, that is, when I'm not entering two stories at a time.

What does it matter, Scouries? I don't have a prayer of winning. Besides, it's not about me, scores, red H's, or winning a contest. It's always been about the story. My personal goal is to enter 100 stories in a contest or at least 500,000 words. What do you think? Not half-assed stories either, but real stories with a beginning, a middle, and an end.

The last time you complained about limiting stories in a contest, even Laurel posted to the contest thread that there is no rule limiting the number of stories. Why would she? This is a story site and this is a story contest. Next, you'll be wanting to limit readers.

Maybe we should institute a rule where we writers must pay for every story entered and the contest winners split the monies collected. I'd be agreeable to that, so long as I had as fair a chance of winning, as everyone else. Only, we know that will never happen, as there are too many twisted people here, such as yourself, who don't like writers that are so prolific.

Sorry, but I'm just a person who loves to write. Writing is my passion. Time and again, I've had other writers bash me with their tired lament over quality instead of quantity.

Yet, I'll put my stories up against anyone here. It's all arbitrary anyone. What one reader loves, another reader hates.

Maybe it's time you entered the Survivor contest, Scouries and tried writing something other than incest. I know you've written in other categories, but not enough to make a difference.

Instead of complaining against me, maybe you should try and write twenty or thirty stories in different categories to see how challenging and fun it is.

For the record, I am Andtheend, Bostonfictionwriter, CarBuffStuff, PositiveThinker, WmForrester, and now SuperHeroRalph.

I've posted more than 900 stories and 100 poems totaling nearly 6 million words and amassing nearly 30 million hits, or reads, or, in your case, sales.

I wrote the most read story in all of 2010, I Love You Mommy, by WmForrester, with nearly 600,000 reads and closing in on 1,000 votes. Modesty, when it comes to my writing is not my strong suit. I'm having way too much fun. This much fun should be illegal or taxable.

Memory's shot, right, Scouries? I've always supported restriction of the number of contest entries. Before Ralph, before andtheend, before Positive Thinker, before WWForester--at the time BOSTONFICTIONWRITER was doing it, actually--in short, before all of Freddie's alts.

First off let me address your last claim: “that you wrote the most read story in all of 2010”

Quite simply that’s untrue. A lie in fact. One, there are no stories yet published on LITEROTICA by Ralph. Claiming someone else’s work as your own is the lowest of the lows.

Two, if you check post #9522 by the adorable Gabby  in the SCOURIES thread that lists the ten most read “new” stories of 2010 I don’t think you’ll find the name WmForrester anywhere.

Third, for your information, the story “Ohhh Mommy”, I Groaned, by yours truly sold more than 808,000 LITEROTICA copies in 2010 (and received over 3900 votes!).

So my good man neither WmForrester nor you had the #1 best seller in 2010.

I’ll address the rest of your stupidity later…

All I remember about you sport is that you're never around when there's work to be done but you're always ready to claim credit after the fact.
