Currently, I'm rather curious about sensation play as it's own thing, without the pain and whatnot, and am looking to develop a scene of sorts based on the idea.

I'm trying to put together a bit of a collection of toys and things that can be used to deal with different sensations. I know some of the different sensations I want to have, like smooth, rough, prickly, tickly, warm, cold, slippery etc.. but what else is there?

And, thinking outside the box and considering things found around the house, or easily found in K Mart, what sorts of objects could I use?

Things like silk, satin, leather, chy's dreaded rabbit fur, ice, heating up the back of a spoon and pressing it against skin, warm flat stones, feathers, massage oil, for starters. What other ideas are out there? Things you've tried and enjoyed?

And lastly, how would you use them to create a crescendo and grand finale?

Any and all ideas welcomed. :)

The most awesome thing I've ever had used on me for sensation play was blunted fingernails. I love those as much as I hate the damned rabbit fur.

He's also really, really good at doing sensation play with a flogger. Of allowing the falls to tumble lightly over the skin so that what you feel is the weight and texture of the leather sliding over your skin instead of the thud or sting.

The scratch and tickle of his stubble, too. Especially feeling it slide across my skin as he nosed his way up to growl in my ear before sliding his teeth across *that* spot on my neck.

Other things that come to mind that I may or may not have tried...
The feeling of a blunted letter opener sliding across the skin - or maybe a not entirely sharp knife. Green scratchy pads for cleaning. Altoids on the clit. Doing some play, applying very cold water, and doing more of the same play. Cotton balls/Q-tips, being thwaped with a rolled up and taped yoga mat is suppose to be awesome. Hmmm... a fingernail brush, exfoliating gloves, forks are good (just be careful how sharp it is if it's a serving fork), sea sponges, hand warmers/cold packs, being lightly bound/wrapped with gauze before feeling fall down/away. Sandpaper of various textures, canvas, muslin, feathers, and rope in a variety of textures.

Seems like there's something I'm forgetting, but I can't think of it. Anyway, I hope that helps.

I really enjoyed being wrapped head to ankle with saran wrap. While wrapped my feet and hands were free. Ice on those areas felt different while wrapped then normally. Also after being wrapped for a bit and my body heating up, both from being wrapped and a light flogging having the plastic on my breast and genital area cut and exposed both to air then ice was very interesting.

It is definitely something I want to do again.

Brushes of all kinds: toothbrushes, tiny paint brushes for doing miniatures to broader brushes one might use to spread makeup or shave cream. All have a distinct feel.

Drop by a hardware store and look around the paint and plaster repair sections for small tools like smoothing knives, disposable foam brushes, stirring paddles, and latex gloves.

Pretty much anything that's light enough to be picked up in one's hand can be used to create a distinct sensation.

Try minted dental floss or those little strips of breath freshener that melt in your mouth. Visit the oriental foods aisle and pick up some Chinese chili oil and son't forget to drop by your favorite produce section for a few fingers of ginger and some lettuce leaves. Maybe make a light flogger by binding together a bunch of green onions.

Open thine eyes in the world and see through the pores of your skin. Then you will see what can be used in sensation play - the list of possibilities is long and glorious.

Ok, the ginger I get. And like. But what do you do lettuce leaves?

Draw them flat across the skin, use the tips to tickle the nips, press the stalk end against soft and sensitive places. All sorts of possibilities exist. Add a bit of cabbage and now you have two contrasting but somewhat similar materials to play with.

Oohhhh... Never thought of it that way before.

Interesting. Very interesting...

Other sensations

Fire and ice. Light a candle and stick it somewhere interesting. Let it burn down. For a fire-lite experience - which I recommend - strip the wick out of the wax, stick the wick somewhere. Insert ice until chill equalizes fire.

Fresh garlic in sensitive places is interesting. Cinnamon oil is even more interesting - select carefully or sunburn will seem pleasurable by contrast.

Crud. I got distracted by Christmas and forgot I'd put this up.

:D

*puts this one back on the drawing board for future planning*

I've used both horse combs and brushes. they create either a slight scratching sensation or a brushing sensation. With curry combs you can decide just how much sensation you want simply by how hard you drag across flesh.

I've also seen banjo picks used. they fit right on the finger and give you a point kind of like a vampire glove.
