Then once they read it and decide they hate it, it breaks the little heart.

I think more often than that they've used the favorite marker to bookmark it for reading--and they break the heart simply because they've now read it--not because they hate it.

Also, your favorite story list has limits. I think a lot of hearts get broken because the reader has seen new favorites and has to clear some former favorite to be able to mark it.

I actually discovered that the recent activity pages have a bug in them once you get over a certain number of entries. My 30 day page still crashes, and I've only had my 7 day page back for about a week.

Ditto. There were three days when my 24 hour page gave up the ghost, and I never even went near the others during the contest. Definitely a new-ish problem.

Favorited (is that a word?) stories are definitely short lived. I always find it fascinating that some stories have been favorited 100's of times. Why not just favorite the Author? Lot's of broken here as well.

I'm surprised that mine's still generating votes. I've picked up 7 since the contest ended on about 1100 new views.

My favorites actually seem to be fairly long lived. The couple that dropped off recently had been there for at least longer than a month, because the original favorite wasn't on the list ( before it crashed ) when the broken heart popped up. Two of them were dropping favorite stories and replacing them with a favorite author, which I consider progress rather than a loss

Of course, I don't have all that many favs. 11, 8, 7, 6 are my max ( all incest ) followed by quite a few 4s and 5s, one of which is my first Halloween story I entered in a contest ( my second erotic horror )

My third pen name has a lot more than the others, mainly because I didn't start it until after they expanded the amount of favorites you could add, and I've posted stories in that name since the page update that gave the favorites buttons more visibility.

I get higher numbers across the board on that pen name, despite spending little to no time on the stories *laugh* I crank those out in one or two sittings, which makes me wonder why I bother writing stories with plots

I'm not sure about that. I think the limit used to be 25 but is now higher or non-existent. I'v had people favorite both me and stories that have at least 80 entries in their list.

There is a limit, but it's a LOT higher than it used to be. For someone using the favorites list as a bookmark, it would be easy to hit that limit.

For most people, it's more than they'll ever need.

I think Manu may have actually listed the expansion... Let me go check that forum and see if I can find the numbers.

EDIT: There it is. The expansion was from 10 to 25 favorites listings.

Yep. I just did a quick look through commenters from the feedback portal and found one with 51 author listings and quite a few story listings.

Guess it was expanded again without announcement. There's a link on the add/edit favorites page for a "Favorites FAQ", but it just goes to the main FAQ section and I can't find anything there about favorites outside of a short entry about the favorites portal.

Probably a lot of people who've ran into the limit before, who assume that it's still there and act accordingly by removing a favorite every time they want to add a new one.

The only one I could find in the announcements thread or at Planet Manu was the 10 to 25 increase. Maybe it was one of the AH threads. Suppose I could do a thread-start search and find it that way.

It was a Lit AH thread but I don't think he gave any real numbers just a statement that they had been increased.
