How come the feedback and voting stops?

Does anyone else have this experience: You posted a story a few weeks, months, years ago. It got some useful comments, and some votes setting it at a particular level. Then both stopped cold. I know people are still reading them. The tallies change. Some are rated "hot". But voting and feedback are dead. They are marked 'OK for comments and voting' on my submissions pages. Clues?

It is the nature of the system. Once a story drops off the "New" page, there is little to draw attention to it. When a story is a year old, the vote to read ratio is
about one out of a thousand. The comment rate is even lower.

Don't drive yourself crazy. It helps if you have several stories. If a reader likes one, they are likely to check the rest of your work.

What he said.

To keep folks even reading your stories, you need to continue pumping them out--having one on the New list most of the time.

Generally speaking, the ratio of views to votes and comments to votes is pretty low, even for new stories. But yes once a story is off the new page, I think views, etc., drop sharply.

Don't get wrapped up in views, votes and comments -- you'll be frustrated otherwise.
